Gt Or Gtp 335? Which One? Is It Worth The Extra?

Hey fellas,

Im currently looking at entering the GT/GTP 335 family.

My only problem is that I can't decide whether it is worth forking out the extra dough for the GT-P over the GT.

I know the GTP has some advantages over the GT, though is it really worth the extra?

Just to give you an idea of what I want out of the car, I'm not going to be tracking the car and I'm not the biggest HP fanatic you'll ever see. Basically I want something that is nice to look at and even better to drive. I will be keeping it (most likely) for the rest of my driving life, seeing as its such a big investment.

Any thoughts...

Welcome , whilst we have some members who drive the V8 flavoured Fords this is a Turbo six site ,

so don't expect an avalanche of replies.

Have you taken an F6 for a drive ? If not you probably should as a point of comparison. Just sayin

How old are you? Your username suggests 26? That's a massive call if you truly intend to keep it for another 50 odd years :P

Anyways.....according to good ol wikipedia; It also includes larger brakes, adjustable pedals, performance seats, a 6-way power driver's seat, and extra GT-P decals. It also features 19-inch alloys; however, they have a different design to the regular GT.

For me it would come down to how much of a price difference there is....the fact it is a upspec model will command a little higher resale value, but you don't intend to sell it anytime soon? BUT if you do keep it for 50 odd years, maybe when its a 'classic' it might be worth more? Especially if you can resist the urge to mod the thing lol

If its only a few thousand more than a GT then I'd get it, just for the better brakes alone (they're worth like 6k+ new I think?)....but obviously it all comes down to what you want and how much you can actually afford.

Also little things like colour choice, trans choice and kms for a GT-P will be mainly limited to what's available on the 2nd hand market....they are probably rarer cars than the regular GT

But the 6 turbos are also great BFYB....if the budgets tight a nice newish FG F6 would be my pick :P

Depending on price difference those seats and brakes would be worth it...but only if the extra cost isn't more than what you could get those parts for aftermarket for a GT.

From an ex GT owner, DO IT! Those motors are fantastic!

You're right, I am only 26 and yeah 50 years does seem like a long time :imsohappy: but always been a ford man since my young days and always admired and obsessed over the older gt's and even the later EB/EL GT's. Now I'm in a position to finally buy one so it's hard to say I would ever sell it. Keeping it stock may be another issue though

I have driven a worked XR6T and that thing blew me away, literally scared the life out of me. As yet I have not been in an F6 though I have only heard great things about them. The only reason why I haven't given the F6 any thought is that the GT has some heritage behind it's name. The F6 has really only been around for 2 generations (if that makes sense)

Another thing is I'm not gonna get that V8 rumble from the F6 (not saying it doesn't make a damn good noise). I might just have to take one for a drive before I make that choice.

I'm with Stripes, all comes down to the price difference at the end of the day. The seats are awesome and I wish my F6 came with them as an option and then there's the brakes Brembo 6/4 versus base GT (not optioned) 4 pot front Brembo and pbr single on the rears. Personally all up to yourself and the price as the brake's can be upgraded for $4500.00 in selling the 4 pot fronts.

As the the GTE the GTP is rarer and worth that fraction more IMO. What ever you choose will be nice either way.

In regards to the brakes, I must ask this question. I've heard that brake pads can be quite dear.

Now I know owning a car like this, that maintenance obviously will not be cheap.

How much does it really cost to get the pads changed on the GT/GTP's???

Like many things it comes down to what you're using the car for. The rotors are the same on the front either way you go, the rears are different and no doubt a a little more cost wise for the 4 pot rotor but again you can go for standard or slotted T3's or even the 5000 series. As for pads you no doubt can get some for under $100 a set front or rear upwards to beyond $350> a set front or rear.

To put in perspective I've just forked out $2233 for a rear 4 pot Brembo setup including standard hoses and QFM A1M pads and managed to pick up a set of 6 pot's off ebay a while ago for $1680 (bargain to say the least)

yep rotors will be farked....they like $500+ range per pair (some people even go serious with 2 piece T3s and they are like $1300 for fronts or something crazy). Pads you would want something decent to make it worth it...around the $200ish for fronts (apparently Project Mu is good and hawk pads too). Labour shouldn't be more than an hr or so

If you're not mechanical (like me) you will be constantly poor trying to pay for upkeep lol

you play....you pay unfortunately
