Does anyone know if custom pcm code can be written, eg editing the actual assembler code? I realise you could brick the pcm pretty easily by doing this but I've seen it done on other ecus eg evo and skyline.

How do you think these tuners learnt to tune with xcal, hp, or vcm software? They learnt from others via either seeing what parameters they have modified or by calling other tuners and gathering feedback/fault finding so don't judge others when all have done the same in the past....As turbotrana has said...rollex has paid for the services of having his software modified to which he owns...this is no different to buying windows, mac or any other software and modifying it as you see fit because you OWN that software! The tuners don't think this is right because you put all the hard work in to the tune but you were PAID for your services...

Not really much to be gained as the big players have mapped the bulk of the parametera required. Danny Nagy has apparently mapped a few the big boys haven't, but I don't know how he's done so.Re map tracing, tuning these cars requires a different approach to older live tune ecus. Also re reading other people's tunes it's a complex issue but I believe you will learn more logging and testing than just c&p'ng someone else work. You'll also gain an understanding as to why the changes influence the operation of the pcm.
