Sorry to hear about your experience, doc.

Unbelievable how frustratingly draconian the enforcement of the Motor Traffic Act is becoming these days. Makes you wonder...

If you don't mind me asking, what is a reflector cover? Is it the same as a perspex Altrex one?

cheers.

Hi Phamtomxrt

A reflector cover is a laminated plastic sheet that slides behind the likes of an altrex cover. It is clear from front on but will take on a mirror effect at anything more than a 30 degree angle so when the camera goes flash all it will get is flashback from your number plate. BE WARNED THOUGH, THE COPPERS ARE ON TO THEM, SOME STATES CARRY A $2000 FINE. Are they worth it? No not if you get caught. Best to save speeding for those long open quiet backroads.

I havn't been camera flashed for years as I don't roar around in suburbia, but if these cars didn't have cruise control I think I would have been.

I have deleted most of Hypnodocs post. It was offensive to Police who are doing their job.

Dallas, you are entirely correct, please accept apologies and anybody else who took offence at my VENTING, I know 99% of police are just trying their best like all of us. I just got a bad one on a bad day :finger::unsure:

(edited to correct formatting error only :angelwings:)

Apart from the generalisations, I didn't mind your first post, and think you got shafted.

Did you take the issue to court yet?

From DOC's past posts regarding the queens men over the last couple of months I can just imagine the conversation that would have gone on by the side of the road. I didnt read his post before it was moderated, (probably lucky). Im not gong to preach but I will say this

I TOLD YOU SO. ;) . I dont know where your utter contempt stems from doc but if the officer does his job correctly and you take him on, 99% of the time you will loose. Please dont think im having a chop but myself and the other coppers who frequent these pages offer every one here advise and if you commt an offence were not going to get angry or hate you but expect to be dealt with

As a finisher to this topic from my point of view ;)

1. I do not dislike or have any contempt for the police, they have a very neccessary job to do and I have friends in WA and Qld who are members of the constabulary.

2. I do not disagree with people being fairly punished for drunk or dangerous driving and/or general stupidly (I agree with the 40k school limit).

3. I drive at the posted limit 99% of the time.

4. If I commit an offence I expect to be charged accordingly.

5. I will take offence at any person who speaks down to me when they have no right to do so.

6. It is obvious to everybody including blind freddy that at least 50% of Speed Camera infringement notices handed out are simply for revenue raising, this does nothing for the PR image of the police, of whom I'm sure the vast majority of would personally agree.

7. I think if I am pleasant and polite to an officer of the law, I am entitled to expect that officer to respond in kind.

8. I got a bad copper on a bad day.

9. I have to wait for a summons to appear in court, where I will plead guilty because I am.

10. When a patrolman tells me that most of his colleages would simply write a number plate not clearly displayed ticket @ $50, but he's not going to do that because he'd rather see me in court, when I have been courteous and co-operative to him. Well that's his perogerative but he's not doing the WA HWP any PR favours.

11. Now I have to go back to that bloody annoying Radar Detector (legal in WA) beeping every 5 minutes.

12. I love my GT Falcon :wub

13. At least it keeps life interesting. :banghead: :kissmy::

If you are doing point 3 why do you need point 11?

;)

Mate how hard is it to keep these cars at under 3kph over the speed limit. Refer point three, Murphys law comes into play and it is the 1% of the time they will get you with their electronic warfare.

I don't think pinging someone for that kind of offence is fair play, even the 10% speedo error rule don't apply any more. And I don't know where you live, but in WA Cameras are as thick as thieves and hidden in all the usual speed limit changing areas. Purely to save on points for miniscule offences that do tend to add up. The WA Govt had the stupidity to pubicly admit that they expect 1 in 2 drivers to be fined in 2004. Nothing to do with safety, all to do with revenue raising, that's why I have a radar detector. To them I say :finger:

:biggun:

Cheers Mercturbo, already racked up a $400 legal bill. I will lose in court as I will plead guilty, my only beef is that why should I have to be victimised because some copper having a bad day says so. I am throwing money at a principle here, I want the same $50 fine everybody else gets, even if it costs me 2 or 3 thousand to get it.

And mate, yeah the GT has lighted window switches (plain white I think) and the provisions are there for the footwell lights, you just gotta go to the gas station and buy $1.90 worth of wedge bulbs.

Also went to supercheap on Saturday and replaced the 55/60 headlight bulbs for 90/130 man does that make a difference for night driving, cost $39.95. How is your patience holding up?, are the days dragging like weeks?Do you have a picture of your new steed constantly trying to invade your headspace? :biggun:

I'm meeting Redhawk at the exhaust shop in the morning so he can drive my car to check out the sound with a new non crossed header pipe and a couple of hotdogs where the centre muffler used to be, just a nice and angry roar when you up it and the low down power (up to 3000rpm) improves significantly).

Let me tell you, it is well worth the wait. I had a deposit down for a series 2 turbo, then had my GT steering wheel fitted today, and the order changed for a Typhoon, expected Oct. Nobody knows the new colours or exact specs (I'm trying for Lightening Strike) and for those who are wondering, an auto will be just shy of or just over sixty grand drive away ;):finger:
