Was going to suggest a smoke test....

I don't know if my tuners dyno is a high or low power reader or what but to me, it doesn't matter coz as long as I know its getting the correct amount of fuel with the right spark I'm happy.

My brief to the tuner was the total opposite to what it sounds like your after. I don't want a tyrefryer so my dyno printout looks more like an 82 was fitted. Boost comes on a tad slower, holds up high for a while b4 dropping off and torque was limited to protect the trans..... didn't help my half shaft though hehehe.

Wondering if there's something else going on with your tune coz mine is incredible all the way through the revs

Sorry ill repeat that - the complete turbo...core & housing and turbosmart actuator were installed on another FG when it was all brand new, it made 520rwhp and they had trouble intially controlling boost so they ported the housing, he removed that after few months and we put it straight onto my car everything the same and mine cant make over 470rwhp or 18psi. Pretty sure his only made 18psi as well and the difference between the car is his is manual with cams, mine is auto with standard cams. This is all same workshop / dyno.... They never tried to make any more power in his car because they didnt wanna push the engine and it was getting a bigger setup anyway. I could try the smoke test but honestly the car runs and idles great, never hunts or does anything to make me think it has an issue leak a boost leak.

Ratter I was hoping you would end up on this post, do you have any suggestions on why the 76 cant produce more than 18psi? or have you tuned any that have easily made 20 plus psi... the turbo is only rated to 600bhp, 470rwhp through auto is probably getting close to that?

I have done a couple but not pushed high boost at all, would need to check my dyno to be accurate, but have seen only around the 350-360 rwkw mark, anymore timing they would ping.

We have to remember that manifold boost is only a measurement of the extra air the engine could not consume so the rwkw number is a better indication of how it's performing, if the turbo is maxed out the boost will be dropping no matter how strong an actuator is used. pumping 20 psi in it early may not give a higher rwkw number, it just may mean this number is made earlier in the rev range I.e Bels G6ET would make 320+ rwkw at 13 psi, on 15 psi it would still make 320+ rwkw just at earlier rpm

I've had a gtx76 for a while. Guessing close to 2 years. Pushing it 454rwkw on e85. No probs.

Holy that's more than it should make at the engine, the turbine is only rated to 600hp, run any times with that ?

Garrett under rate all their turbos so don't get caught up on that

GTX76 has done 130+mph plenty of times

Again your issue is not the front half on the turbo ....

Thinking I should take off and look for cracks or poor sealing of gate ?
