I never realy liked Mecrury Silver as a colour. [ 10 ]   [38.46%]

I am so happy I added a 4th option for this poll...:thumbsup:

Got the car back from the dealers today apparently the leak is caused by a fault in the weld on the fitting for the return oil line for the turbo. It has been leaking since new, 30,000ks now, explains the wierd HOT smell it sometimes had each time I blew out the cobwebs.

They have ordered the parts to fix it next week, apparently the boss is not happy as they spent a lot of time finding it....be quicker next time as it seems it is not a one off occurance, even if you have more chance of an adverse HaaG reaction, than an oil leak. :smilielol:

You didn't look very closely...it is a white XR, its just that we have water restrictions here in the A.C.T. and you can't wash your car....

Had the same leak. Mech tried to tighten it. Leak came back. Replaced gasket, leak went away. He ran a light file over the end of the oil return pipe. Also make sure they clean up the mess as oil around that part of the car can make smells etc.

Peter,

I understand the intent of the thread, I have such a leak near my turbo ... my comment was directed at the last option on the poll.  Now correct me if I'm wrong, but what the hell does the HgAg colour have to do with oil leaks from the turbo?

Dont worry about these jealous people who wish they had the HgAg, after all it was the HgAg aps car that got the 307km record.:gooff:

Now I am worried about my T as it appears to lacking the normal leakage. Should I be going to my dealer and demanding he rectify this 'lack of leakage'?

Or have I missed the point, is it only the HgAg that leak oil?

I just picked up my car after another day in the service dept.

Its had a burning oil smell after short trips, when they put it over the pit you could see it had been spraying oil and burning it on the turbo housing and was clearly visible on the bottem of the radiator hose.

Quote(from paperwork)"REMEDY OIL LEAK FROM TURBO: Contacted Ford Motor Company in regards to slight oil ingress into turbo housing and was advised minor oil evidence is normal operation....tightened and cleaned.

Well for the first 25000 burning oil wasnt happening so there must of been something wrong with it then??

WTF I feel like taking it to the RTA, MVR whatever....Ford say its normal to leak oil f........k do I have an ls1 or what??
