G6Et Clunk From Rhf

Hi everyone, I have a g6et with ssl Springs fitted. It has 115000 on it and has just developed a clunk noise from the drivers side front corner. I've had a look underneath and checked all bolts and can't find anything obvious.

Should I be fitting new bushes to the lower control arm or maybe top ones too. To me it sounds a bit like ball joint but I'm not sure. Completely stuffed the inside of my drivers side (12 month old) tyre too.

Mine has same k's and same springs not that it really matters, but its clunking from everywhere now lol. Your most likely spot on about the bushes and wheel bearings are probably worth doing at these k's if they haven't been done recently. Mine are getting noisy.

Full set of bushes and bearings are next on my list..

Looking at whiteline lower control arm bushes, has anyone else fitted these things. Do you just insert the rubber into the old bush sleeves.

basically, yes, lubricate lightly and press in.

with regard to the "clunk" it's likely to be the ball joint. Get pedders to do their $28 test, that'll tell you what's wrong - then get it fixed somewhere else (your favourite mechanic) haha

Good luck mate....I've had Ford, Pedders, and another suspension place look all over my bushes for clunk noise in front and rear.

All say "bushes are all fine".

Hopefully my 'mate' can look over the car....cause its pretty annoying (happens heaps over sh*tty roads).

But seeing as you have tyre issues, it may just be a dodgy bush like you've mentioned.

My knocks were upper control arm bushes which when replaced showed the upper ball joints were toast too. Pressing new bushes back out of old arms into new arms again was stupid.

Now my lower control arm bushes are just about done. 150,000k maintenance stuff really. Have already had all bushes done in the rear

Yours isn't an FG is it? I think ball joints on FG is very different to BA/BF. Cant simply push them out and I think you need to buy entire arm with new ball joint in it. (And when the time comes not sure if ebay spec ones are good enough or whether OEM is a must).

My BF does that rhs clunk, different front ends though
