Mine was off a tooth for God knows how long and I couldn't tell. Only found when it was opened to do valve springs.

I had a backfire only once, and it was still stock! Flogging it around a corner on a night cruise.

So ill have to pull the top off and turn the harmonic balancer until the marks line up on the chain with the indents on the cams. Can you do this without removing the timing cover?

Can you move the chain or do you have to push back the guide?

Rip the rocker cover off, remove thermofan and then with a 22mm socket spin her around till desired marks hopefully line up.It can take up to 32 rotations to get there.
