Hi guys,

Bought a BF XR6T ZF Magnet ute on the weekend, 98k kms, Ego. Love it.

Had an FG XR6T ute a few years ago now and loved it, but thought I would save myself a good 8-10 grand by getting a BF (much more sensible while I am saving for a house!)

Couple of things:
Firstly, the car doesn’t seem to go like the FG. It won’t bust out in wheelspin when it hits boost like the FG did.

It has a strange ‘flapping’ sound when it’s under load (and boost) – mostly evident in 2nd gear when the boost is probably highest under load. It sounds airy, like it could be a boost leak?

I assume this has a lot to do with the power delivery. Everything else is sweet; idles fine, doesn’t misbehave or miss or anything.

Secondly, the LSD is not quite LSD. I tried a quick launch (maybe using a bit of brake… ahem!) and all it left was a horrible single pegger. I tried again a few minutes later and same deal. I was gutted! Is it common for these to get slack and only throw one wheel? Furthermore, if punting it on a right turn it will open up the inside wheel, but if I do the same thing turning left, it will kick out. Bizarre.

Cheers guys!
Will.

Fg's have the small turbo that comes on faster and harder so that's why your fg used to light up

So what u have now is fairly std

The air noise could definitely be a loose pipe and not helping the power output

It's very common for utes to single wheel sooner than the sedan as the diff arrangement is completely different and has a very poor lsd unit from factory

So again fairly common

Does Bruce have a better mechanic working for him yet?
