I now have a choice, genuine ford FPV rims 8"F / 9"R or aftermarket copy at 8"F / 9.5"R. The copies are also $700 cheaper (which I know is not a lot )

I currently run the XR50T 19x8 245/35/19. I was wondering if I went the 9.5" rear could I go a 275 or 285/35/19 and 245/40/19 as I would like to get a little more comfort than the 35's are providing at the moment.

Yep ya sure can

I run a 245/40/18 on a 8.5 front and 275/35/18 on a 9.5 rear and the actual circumference of each works out fairly close giving a more cumfy ride

Maybe 'slightly' over legal but 5-0 wouldn't care I don't think -- being a 19" wheel

I've got 9.5 rears and got done by 5-0 in Vic, they had a special calliper style measure thing apparently we can only go 9 legally

Also kind of on topic...but is there a link or someone smart who can explain this to me!

I understand in tyre calculators that it says you should stay between 3% of your OEM tyre size....does this refer to how much your speedo will be out by?

This can easily be changed through your tune or local Ford dealership?

Also want to confirm....when people say 19s are harsher/ not as good performance wise...would this opinion change if you stuck to the same sized tyres? I.e. going from 245/40/18 (F) + 275/35/18 ® but then changing to 245/40/19 + 275/35/19 ... therefore sidewall would be the same?

Luke told me last year to stick to 18s....but 19s just look correct for the FG

Maybe its just my current rims, but sometimes they just look so tiny.

Or maybe it needs low to look correct....

I'll do some more Google reading tonight and see if I find anything....found some similar topics on this forum....and clicked on some epic link....so might have a read of that first.

The difference for Luke's example is that he has gone from 30 profile rear 19s to 40 profile 18s (I assume)....but what I want to do is stay same same just larger rim.

I'll see if I can figure it out for myself for once :P

I've heard some shocker stories of copy wheels like the ebay versions of the GT335 wheels. Personally, for the cost you can pick up the genuine ones now I'd just run with those. Either way you won't get enough tyre on the rims for what would be ideal to tame the power these cars can run.

Oh and 18's will give better ride quality coz you can run a higher profile tyre (I.e. more sidewall), if you're wanting to stick within legal guidelines, than if you run 19's.

Dan what's the legal guidelines? Cause on the calculators it says you must be within + or - 3%.... is that Australian LAW (cause I thought that had to do with how much your speedo would be out).

Edit: maybe has something to do with brake failure? or maybe just BS?
