How does the battery side airbox VS an underbattery intake make any difference? the pipe is about a foot longer but same size and same pod filter. is that really going to limit 50+ KW????

Thanks Mick,

LV#LLA the restriction is where the pipe goes through under the headlight area.

LV3LLA,

I bought a brand new GTX3576 turbo core for $1450 from MTQ and had it fitted to my existing FG XR6T housing. Your turbo has done 160k?

MTQ in Melbourne is at 1 Westside Drive Laverton North. 03 8346 9888. MTQ in Sydney looked after me as a Forum Member.

LV3LLA,

I'm not being harsh here mate but it seems the car will be a dyno queen and to you it's about the number and nothing else so IMO I would be going the route that takes you there the easiest and cheapest and in that case I would recommend a .70 comp housing to the mix with the 4in intake and forget the GTX's as they are expensive in comparison! Yes it will be lag central everywhere else but 400 right?

Have you owned or been in a manual turbo ford with 350+rwkw to give you an idea of what's in store? The torque figure is what's the fun factor with these cars especially when it's ramped in hard... If your tuner is good and you drive like a normal person with the odd raping here and there (no rev limiter bouncing) then I can't see why the engine won't live a healthy ish long life on 20+psi. Hell my BA turbo is hopefully still having fun at 20psi with it's new owner and that's been doing that for a while now...

Also, I'd add some very grippy decent 275 wide tyres to the mix if you want any traction at all as you're going to need it!!! Have fun...

Sounds like your on a budget. Maybe rethink to 350rwkw. To push over 400 on 98 needs large intake ,cooler and exhaust. The bigger the better. 160ks is a bit to start modding to high power. And being a manual really requires billet oil pump gears

Is there a reason you want 400kw? I've had my car running 350kw in my 6 speed manual for the past 9 months and its more than enough power for the street.

infact alot people that I've actually spoken to suggest that 350kw is about the most you want for a street car.

I've just recently put a gtx3582r on because the stock turbo failed and it was retuned and made 399.5kw on 98 but clutch was slipping so its now back to 360kw and that's with the stock exhaust, 1000cc injectors, valve springs, billet oil pump gears, plazmaman intercooler, cold side piping, custom intake, walbro 460 pump. So if you want 400kw I think it would make it, just depends on the tuner I guess.

Like someone else said as well triple plate is probably a bit of an overkill.

Anything is achievable, if you have the budget for it. There are plenty of cars in the 400+ section that you use as a guide for what is required to achieve the desired results. All in all, don't skimp on components, you do get what you pay for..
