Im thinking of getting a sunroof in my ute. Just want a bit of feedback from people who have one. Is it worth getting or a waste of money. How much did you pay.

I dont have one in my ute byt my brother has one in his xr6t sedan.. It is a great option and is fantastic to let out the hot air your car collects whilst sitting in the sun.... on the other hand the cost is quite large for something you can really live without..... comes down to 2 things

1- do you really want it

2- can you u afford it

If its yes for both the above, I say go for it.... I opted not to as I think the money is better spent elsewhere (like plug in when available).

I think they go for $1,500 to $2,500 depending on what you get.

I don't think it will add anything to resale but then again its all about what you want. You didn't buy it for someone else did you?

Is there any body rigidity issues with fitting a sunroof to a ute??

As far as I know it is illegal to get one in a ute as there will be no strength in the roof once they cut most of it out.

don't quote me on this as I have not got any proof or even researched this but only speaking from memory.

There would be alot of illegal utes out there junior.... I dont think this would be the case or otherwise convertibles would have to be illegal too.... have seen a few utes with the sunroof and they magicall!!! but then again the price tag is pretty magical too ;)

I initially ordered my XR6T with the sunroof option and it was $2,200 factory fitted. Then found out later that most dealers use aftermarket roofs at a saving of around $500. Also factory fitted was going to delay delivery by another 4 weeks ( they didnt say why) so I let it go. Have had sunroofs in 4 different cars, one ute and would recommend it if the price is right..........

Pity it wasn't a factory option (as far as I was aware) as I would have had it put in .. they look great on utes.

Me too!!
