Hi Guys,

I can get at set of front and rear 4 pot AU2 brembos at mates rates, however I want to fit them to my FG XR6T.

Can anyone confirm what needs to be done to fit these up?

In regards to the fronts, is it just the same procedure as putting on BA/BF brembos on a FG, and getting some lines made up?

Is it easier to try and source FG brackets, if so where can they be found? or will the brackets on the AU calipers work fine.

For now I'm mainly concerned with the front calipers, I will tackle the rears at a later date, as I'm guessing there will be some modifications required.

Cheers

Au Brembos? Pics? Did the TS and TE cars have them?

I'm guessing you'll need Brembo compatible rims as the factory Ford rims won't fit over B and FG series Brembos, only FPV rims do. With one exception...BA XR8 18" rims.

No offence doobs....but why are you bothering? Are you getting them for like $200 or something? lol

Wouldn't you be more concerned that they will need a rebuild....being old and sh*t the rubbers would be getting pretty brittle and the paint would look sh*thouse?

Just for my curiosity....what size are the rotors? Are they at least 355mm or whatever BA/BF/FG ones are?

When all is said and done...would be interesting to see whether you're ahead or at a loss :pandalol: custom fabbing, etc ain't cheap

They are in great condition and would be a good price if they fit.

I'm trying to establish if they are the same as fitted to BA

Both the front and rear calipers are exactly the same as BA/BF far as I can tell. Rear part numbers on brackets and calipers are identical.

Front caliper part number is almost the same 20.7679.00 v 20.7679.01 (which I got from the rebuild thread). I need to find out what the significance of the part number difference.

The front mounting bracket part number is significantly different, but it looks visually the same. Can someone give me some close ups of the front mounting brackets for BA/BF? Or tell me where I can buy front and rear FG brackets, that way it should be easy to fit up

AU 4pot and 6 pot brembo's and brackets are the same as on BA/ BF With the same 355mm rotor.. Also can't buy brackets by them self unless you find some on ebay which come up every now and then. Rear 4pot brembos are the same AU/BA/BF/FG with a 330mm rotor.

So brackets being the same you should have no worries fitting them to a Fg by swapping brackets over left to right and right to left and swapping the cross over pipe with the bleed nipples.

Wow, never knew the T series rocked Brembos. Sweet.

edit - just googled for pics and found a thread on AFF...

http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11412293

Also more info regarding mounting you'd want to take a look at I think, though note they are talking about going in the other direction in some of the posts

This one reminded me about the direction of the pistons being important, which I'd forgotten

Sorry Shayne but the 4 pot front calipers are also piston and rotation specific in that the small piston must also also pass through the rotor first in forward rotation .
If you try to fit FG spec 4 pot brembo caliper to AU OR BA in the correct fxctoy position assuming you have the dog none bracket you need to swap the bleed nipples to the by pass position and vice versa then piston position should be correct .
We did this on Jeff's T3 ( GXR) for the upgrade .

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to post up some photos of the brembo calipers mounted to my FG using the BA/BF brackets (I have confirmed that the bracket on my calipers are exactly the same as BA/BF).

As you can see they don't sit in the factory location, which has been discussed in length on these and AFF forums, but I found no actual photos of it.

I don't hate the look (as much as I would prefer the standard position), and AFAIK, as long as I put the correct caliper on the correct side, swap the crossover pipes and nipples over they will perform the same.

However I'm also going to use this thread to see if you guys can help me out and put me in contact with someone who has a set of FG brackets, that would either sell to me or ideally swap for my BA/BF brackets.

I am going to need custom line made up, which is a pain as I need to get the car there, and pay them to make/fit lines and bleed the system, something I wouldn't have to do if I found a set of FG Brackets. so if you know of any for sale or swap please let me know.

Photos:

Photos of 6-piston calipers for BA/BF and FG: http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/90499-photo-essay-swapping-brembo-calipers-between-babf-and-fg

Rebuilding 4-piston calipers: http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/90508-photo-essay-rebuilding-brembo-calipers/

The 4-piston calipers are all symmetrical. Have a play around with swapping brackets, nipples and crossover pipes around and you'll see that you can have them in the correct place.

I was doing this at home here a few weeks ago when someone was looking at buying a set of 4-piston front Brembos for his FG.

I really don't know why people just don't buy FG brembos for FGs and B series for B series.

Same cost less drama.

No offense intended doobs. But I just think the effort outweighs any potential price saving
