Max Power From Single 044/surge On E85 ?

No I cant remember what it was exactly, we dismantled it on the bench and opened up a few things.. it was somewhere on here I read to do it as a small mod whilst cradle is out..

again its not what im claiming is the deal sealer.. if it has a small effect then it cant hurt to try it..

its mostly about lowering the base fuel pressure with the reg mod and thus greatly improving flow around the surge and to the injectors..

cant argue that pumps operate at a higher flow rate with a decrease in fuel pressure all round which is what I have achieved..

Will see anyways just about to book it in and see how I go with what I have..

you have only relieved and lowered pressure at low rpm, which is a good thing but it does nothing once the revs come up.

Some are being lead to drill the swirl pot venturi to relieve backed up pressure in the return, this will have a negative affect at higher rpm and can lead to a decrease in performance of the fuel system

What's the point of having the fuel system on it absolute most limit with the motor out at 13 afr on a Dyno then drive it on the road with the headlights on high beam the voltage drops alittle and the pump can't keep up. You'll be saying RIP to your motor for the cost of a $200 dollar fuel pumps and $100 in fittings. If you don't have a wideband in your car you'll probably never know when it's about to let go... Just a waiting game.

Yeah a car warmed up at a shop before dyno tuning doesn't put the same strain on charge system as a car warmed up in traffic with the added heat soak generated.

I use to see enough drop in volts from warm idle to hot idle that I could here the tone of the pump(044) change ever so slightly.....how much flow that is I'm not sure.

If your pump is maxed out you will have no flow back to the surge tank from the rail at full throttle.

Does anyone else have a issue with charge issues when running two 044's?

Since I fitted 2 044's my car nearly stalls when the thermo fans kick in on a hot day. Watching the volt gauge it drops then slowly picks back up to 14v.

Have fitted a new battery since then to no help. Thinking my alternator is either at its limit or just old.

Please see above comment.. the car will be used very sparsely on this tune for the occasional drag meet and a track day here and there..

If the system has any issue on the dyno it will be cut short and re-addressed .. im sure my tuner will be able to see this and call it before it hurts it and give me some indication of how much further its got to go..

There will be no high beam load, no air con and all that business..

and yes I have a wideband fitted to the car to monitor the air/fuel..

AGAIN ratter its NOT about the small mod done to the swirl pot.. !!!

cmon man your too smart of a bloke to argue with what im trying to say here..

its about the extra flow iv created by creating less of a restriction by enlargening the reg return hole..

its common knowledge that a pump flows more at reduced fuel pressure.. which again is what iv accomplished ..

if 470kw has been done and sct911 hasnt mentioned anything of a blown motor im hoping 450kw is not out of the question safely..

im more than happy with my 98 tune for everyday duties and this will be an every now and then tune...

Its the same drama with dudes pushing 500kw on a walbro 460 without a surge.. sure they may make the numbers but will create issues when under load and with under filled tanks etc.. nothing is safe on highly tuned engines...

How does enlarging the return in the swirl post assist flow at high load? At full load/boost the return is effectively closed off by the reg ( unless you are running very large pumps).

None of your mods will help with getting any extra flow from your system, except for better control at idle and low rpm, but infact, depending on what you have drilled you may have hindered your fuel flow at higher demands, which may or may not show on a dyno unless a real slow ramp rate is used.

I'm trying to help, not argue, but you being vague with what you drilled leaves a real doubt about what it will do
