Putting a sports bar back on the ute.
If anyone wants a reasonably cheap bitchin set of ladder bars for an FG let me know.

Yea I know I copied half of it from the other thread but this one keeps track.

Thanks to@camo86t helping on Friday, the legend got the new turbo front cover and hot side pipe welded up with plazmaclamp flanges.

Got home after that, pulled the old turbo out, the manifold, dump and all the studs. Made a mess getting the heat wrap off which pretty much crumbled.

New exhaust gaskets and studs, new turbo gasket and studs, fitted the new dump studs.
Fitted a new turbosmart actuator, 14 Psi spring (7psi inner and 7 psi outer), set the preload and bolted it up.
Got the dump bolted up on Saturday morning. Topped up the coolant, primed the oil line fitted a bunch of "cable tie line seperators" (roadkill spec) and started it.

Then I was very surprised with the sound of it. Considering it's just the gen 2 of what I previously had fark me it spools loud. I'm sure the aluminium elbow being welded on the outlet and having no silicone in the cooler piping does add to it but it sounds like a t51 spooling at cold start and when driving it.

Anyway put a few hundred kms on it over the weekend and no leaks, nothing's broke and it boosts hard (yes I know its gotta be retuned/touched up)

Can definately say it's an improvement over the gen 1 GTX3582, spools earlier, spools harder/louder and just works better all around with the better anti surge cover, no flutter and clean BOV release.

They're a nice bit of kit.
What makes it even easier now is plaz has an adapter for the falcon throttle body that bolts onto it and has a plazmaclamp flange on the other end. Would have been nice 6 months ago. Looks very clean.

It's good knowing there's no weak joins in the piping now, the sound increase just tops it off.

I've been thinking of picking one up one of those adapters for my whip would look the part with the plaz plenum. But then its a commitment to run plazma clamps everywhere throughout the car, and they aint cheap 🤣
