Appreciate the advise on the heat shield@JETURBO but so far so good. Anyway I rewrapped the manifold yesterday arvo with the DEI titanium wrap. Massive difference over the black wrap. Went on the cruise up around the central coast today, the Ute perform really well with no heat issues at all. Brakes working really well, the ZF behaved 95% of the time and the new manifold makes it spool hard. Only issue is there isn't quite enough travel with the QA1 rear shocks so I'll have to look into taller shock to allow more travel. Besides that I'm really happy with how the ute is going.

When fitting them I wanted to fit HIDs for the low beam and also some sort of DRL. Another issue is the FG uses a H4 globe for the low beam and the FG Mk2 uses a H7. I got a set of "HID MAX" to suit the FG Mk2 from autotecnica. They also have a relay adapter (not part of the kit) that plugs into the H4 socket and allow the H7 to operate as it would in the FG Mk2. As for the DRLs I fitted a set of LED DRL indicators that fit as normal but need a switched ignition power source for the DRL function. Pics aren't great so I'll get some more tomorrow.

I ended up using titanium wrap and riveting a good quality heat shield material to the bonnet above the manifold. Worked well!!
