Bf Typhoon Fitment Question

Hey guys,

I'm new here, and I've been trying to find out a bunch of information on the fitment of wheels for my car.

I've just picked up a 2006 BF F6 Typhoon, and shopping around for wheels.

So 2 questions,

1) What is the offset for my standards? I think they're the "twist" wheels.

2) Also, from what I've gathered through searching, these sizes/offsets should fit (ie: clear the Brembos):

19x8.5 +30/35

19x9.5 +30

20x8.5 +35

20x10 +30/42

So, should this mean, if I go a set of TSW Bathurst in 19x9 +30 and 19x10.5 +27, would I need spacers? And if so, how thick?

I'm new to trying to understand offsets and stuff.

These are the sizes and offsets that are available, so if you have a recommendation of sorts, I'm open:

19x8 +35

19x8.5 +15

19x9 +30

19x9.5 +39

19x10.5 +27

20x8.5 +40

20x9 +20

20x9 +30

20x10 +40

20x10.5 +25

Clearing brembo is more to do with the design of the wheel spokes than the offset.

This.

It's all about the spokes on the wheels - you need spokes toward the outside of the rim so that they clear the wide Brembo calipers.

There is actually a set of Volk 17" wheels that clears 6 piston Brembos.

But most 18", 19", etc, don't.

The only Ford rim that clears is the BA XR8 rim. All FPV rims clear.

A lot of wheel makers, well at least a lot of 2/3 peice wheels have different 'disk sizes'. Which is how thick the spacing is from the wheel mounting face to the back of the spokes.
IE Work Wheels use the system

R disk high clearance for brembos ect,

A disk for mid clearance for normal sized 4 pot brakes

O disk for low clearance like single pot rear calipers for maximum dish

A lot of generic tyre shop wheels dont have any of this kind of info, or an easy identifiable system like about. but "generally" on cheap one peice wheels if the concave ect isnt any different the offset is just done buy milling more off the back of the same blank to get a higher offset, and thus less brake clearance.

But as all those wheels are different widths its hard to tell

They look very similar to RAYS G25's which come in different concave to suit the size... but they will be way more than that kind of money hahaha

Thanks for the info guys!

And Locky, those wheels are so nice. The Japs certainly know how to do a nice set of wheels haha.. I had Enkei RS05RR on my 335i before buying the Typhoon!

Would love to find a set of Work wheels, would be different to what you normally see on a Falcon!

But, budgets are budgets huh :( I contacted TSW, let's see what they say! Otherwise maybe I'll find a local supplier who will let me test fit, just so I can get the sizes. :D

I also would like a set of Vossen wheels, but they're stretching the budget too =/

Offset / width / spoke design all play a factor

These are the Rays Volk TE37 17" wheels I used for track, 6/4 brembo combo

The only thing I have to add is:

1) car looks mint

2) you have the base 18" FPV Typhoon rims, not the twistys. Those are 19's (but can come in different sizes as third party knock offs too). Stock wheel offsets on them are +36.5 for the fronts and +28.5 for the rears. Might be worth taking them off and checking. The wheel nuts are different lengths too if you still have the factory ones on there. Oh and the spare will be a +36.5 (front) since those are OK to go on the rear of the car too.

These are the twisties, a google image search for "FPV twisty" will show you as well
