I knew I was pushing power through it, so it was built with only 20,000km on it. Put an upgraded input shaft and extra clutch plates and disks in 2,3 and 4 rotating housings so application pressure can be increased Ive since sold the ute, but from what I hear its still going strong.

Parts are easy enough to get, either from the US or Motospecs ( http://www.motospecs.com.au). The labour component doesn't seem to be huge... the parts don't cost millions... why does it cost four grand for a decent rebuild?$60 a litre for 20L of genuine fluid. Yes there are cheaper options out there

Yes there are cheaper options out thereThat's the one part that I've got covered for the right price. 20L drum of Gulf Western Syn-TS for $125.I found Lifeguard for $30/litre, but the Gulf Western has a good reputation on various forums.---------------------------------News back from transmission guy: torque converter is stuffed, $800 to recondition it.Going to spend a day or two trying to find a good turbo transmission and converter. Will resell the one that I bought yesterday (for a profit).

Tell him your Tocchis mate and he'll look after you on price. #1 reason for to failure is water contamination in the oil so you might want to get checked out before you proceed.
