Smoke from the turbo?????

That is smoke from the guys turbo.

When he finally got the turbo looked at, they found bent fins and some of the fins had missing bits from the end.

I think you can possibly fix the compressor wheel if you get it in time. MattyP correct me if I am wrong.

Would have thought the bent blade would just reduce the efficiency of the turbo. Seen a few threads around where people said they had a bent fin but aside from the sound had no issues.

What gearbox do you have fitted (I'm gathering you have either a 6sp auto or manual) but the 4sp auto can sound "sort of" similar in some cases otherwise I'd hit at bent comp wheel fins otherwise I've never heard it elsewhere! My nephews did this in his BA xr6 but I always swore it was a noisey alternator which it wasn't...

If it is the turbo just buy a Kinugawa billet replacement like Luke has attached or the 6+6, whatever suits your fancy!

Either way report back when you've rectified it...

Given what he has done to the car which does not include removing the turbo I can't see how It could have bent a fin. As the story goes that ba had some bent fins on the turbine side as it was dropped with the rear housing removed.

Upper to lower manifold leaks can scream like that on a b series. Not so much leaks from piping ect. I'd be checking inlet/exhaust manifold, turbo, dump for a leaks.

Sorry masda checking in now haha

The comp wheel can replaced really easy if its a gt3582r (gt3540 if that tickels your fancy) with a simple comp wheel swap. An fg turbo would require a new backing plate, comp housing and comp wheel but not that difficult. that's if your going down the billet route.

But you gotta be careful because an out of balance wheel may have already caused havock on the chra.
