Hey guys, just recently purchased an XR6 T. Don't know much about it but learning ...

Everything was working fine until recently.

When I drive the car, everything is normal except when I push it over 2 RPM's!

The normal whistle sound that it makes has disappeared, and the sound that it makes is "chuuu".

I feel it losing power and feels like it might be choking in a way.

Ive replaced the paper air filter with a KNN Filter three weeks ago. I've checked all the pipes to make sure they're not loose, I've also cleaned the carbonator, and when I opened to see the turbo, it had a drop of oil or fuel there just outside the fan. Is that normal?

Think the sound came about when I went to a dodgy petrol station, I put in premium unleaded but since then it has been working like crap, I've refuelled twice since then with 98. But the sound is still there.

Maybe il need to change the fuel filter.

What could be the issue, has it happened to anyone before?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks Senna

Did it sound like a vacuum sound?

If so, I had the same issue.. I went to CGR Racing / Narrabeen.. they reset the computer and the boost come back.

they advised the scan read P1228 (underboost). he cleared the codes and boost flowed through no probs. suspect the actuator flap was stuck open.

the following day I had another drive.. was back to the vacuum sound.

My scanner still showing the P1000 reading.. unsure if related or not.

going back this week.. will let you know how it goes.
