Yep just paid about 3k installed for a new Diff centre, gears and bearings in a ute. In sedan that isn't a bad price

legally you have to pay for any work you have agreed to, if you don't they can keep your car until a time you do while charging you for storage while waiting, and if a certain time passes they can then sell the car, they would have to give you any extra money from the sale if their costs have been met or can follow you up to make up the difference if it sold for less than what was owing

Fair point. I have my car back already, am paying off the diff costs. Probably isn't worth the time trying to go to FairTrading or whatever.

Anyway, wish me luck, driving the car into NSW tomorrow, so a 1000km round trip should be good for testing the car out...

And expensive with the current fuel costs...

I think yeah you might have a claim for annoyance. But to even have a claim you'd first need to prove the inconvenience as fair trading will only try to make you 'whole' not give you a bonus cheque. So taxi receipts etc.

But the fact that they did all that extra work without charging you a dime?
