Been contemplating a change to the 3 mobile phone crowd, I'm a high user so the $99 cap has me excited. Though I'm not one for video phoning or picture sending, seems like a good mob, they sponsor Pointings boys. Any thoughts experiences would be good, some slagging & hi-jacking won't hurt either.

check the fine print, there are exceptions to the cap...and they may get you on a plan and change the rules later. make sure the cap extends the FULL life of the plan you sign up to

Good Value coverage be an issue, see if u can find someone in your area who uses one, am told that people who have them a lot of calls end up goin to voicemail. Wouldn`t use it as a business phone though. make sure ya read the contract. And ask for any hidden charges the salesman has to inform you of anything extra if you ask him about additinal costs.Video phone and pic sending will not be icluded in $99 but check with salesperson.

Alot of the managers and staff at my clubs have gone to "3" and most of them are not very happy. All have them now have smaller bills which is great, but there are alot of negatives. The coverage is not very good and many of there calls drop out. Alot of calls get a phone off message when you ring them but if you dial straight away after you may get through. The hand sets that you have to use are crap too, most of the people with them have had them in for repairs or exchange on a regular basis. Being in the noghtclub industry I also use my phone a great deal and I would not consider going to "3" after all the dramas my collegues have been having.

Geea.

In my experience Scotty Telstra has the best coverage period.

You pay more obviously but there will be times when you wish you had coverage and would gladly pay the extra.

Thank you all, I'm not worried about Video calls & have been through the fine print, which I'm ok with.

SMS is 15c each which is cheap, I'm currently with Vodafone now 7years & am happy with their service, just contemplating a change to a new phone, as a Real Estate agent it's always close to Ear & thought maybe it time for my 4yo job to hit the bricks.

Scotty

p.s. thankyou thus far, keep 'em coming boys/girls.

Hey Hey,

already spoke to you about it... but here are some pro's and con's.

Pro

Cheaper Bill (duh)

People can email your phone instead of SMS (cheaper for them)

You can have your emails read to you from the voicemail system (good if you are driving)

You can receive faxes on your phone too! (no monthly charges for fax service)

if you want to save money - you can check all your voicemail, fax and email on the internet (or even outlook).

You get an SMS notification of urgent emails. (So if people want to get a message to you, they make the email urgent.. write the message in the title and send it to you, and you will get the message on your handset straight away)

Camera

Video's

Watch movies on the phone when you are bored.

There are no monthly service fee's (ie.. if you buy your handset outright, you only pay usage)

MP3 player

You get most accessories you would want with the handset (2 batteries, leather case, 2 chargers, 2 headphones, memory card etc etc etc)

Cons

Occaisionally takes 2 or 3 attempts to make a call

You have to deal with the lovely call center in India for customer service and tech support.

Size of the phone (they are big compared to most nokia's)

As with all other carriers, ported numbers will have issues receiving international sms from some countries. (ie.. if your current providor has a direct agreement with the OS carrier, and 3 has an indirect agreement with a internal SMS broker such as nilcom... the message will not get through)

Accessories are expensive

Battery life has a bit to be desired

Contrary to popular belief, coverage is NOT an issue. It actually works out better than other carriers, cos if you cant get a signal on WCDMA, you can pick up a GPRS or GSM signal from Vodafone.

All in all - I am happy with my phone. (I have the A920). I use it more than my Nokia (optus). Havent had a dropout in about 6 weeks.

an I also add that 3 uses the Vodafone network when not in 3 coverage. My brother has one and the phone he has is great, but what XRChic said, the phone is a little large, but hey, you get a pouch to put on the side of your belt and it slips in there nicely.

Also, when trying to recieve video news etc, sometimes it fists out and you will eventually give up and wait untit the 5 or 6 o'clock news depending the channel your watching and where you live.

Overall I think its a good package, but as you all should do, read the fine print.

cheers

the $599 fitted for the in car kit is a little steep IMO. I've been offered a 10% discount for a pair of them.
