Jet how do I check the fluid levels. Maybe it might be a fanny low and that's why it sometimes slips 4th.

I never abuse my car. Lol

One thing I do is let it warm up until the water temp gets to where it has to be.

Fluid level needs to be checked between 30-50 degrees iirc and we used to do this with a lazer temp gun into the fluid itself ( kind of awkward to do )

Car must be level and crack the M10 hex bolt

Fluid should just slightly trickle out, this means its correct level

The time between 30-50 degrees happens fair quick

( yes even with a air cooler :P )

Haha yeah I can see why that was hard to understand when we are talking temps atm and my start of sentence said I checked my temps lol.

When I said I checked my temps I meant I checked my temperature to see if it was high as I was agreeing with you.

If in doubt ride it off and go pfffftttt......its never intended to have malice.

I've read of plenty of ZFs "Flaring" with heat exchangers.

It's going to be very hard to back up any form of ZF cooling when people are continually playing with tunes etc.

I've noticed my wife's stock FG XR6Ts ZF is a little funny when cold, just the first 500m, it's been like that for the last 100,000kms so I'm not worried about it.

Now for the BIG QUESTION, what's the difference in dollars between air cooled and coolant cooled, fitting it yourself???

I bought the

PWR heat exchanger

ZF filter

Pan gasket (already had steel sump)

12litres of oil from the US of A

Fitted exchanger and serviced the tranny myself for just a smudge under $1000

So definitely not a cheap exercise to do but I feel happy with it

I would prob have gone an air cooler if I knew about jets setups before I bought my PWR cooler

I would be $500 better off, but in no way am I unhappy with the setup I have

No you would be $350-400 better off.... :P depending if you bought during GB which I did lol

If you bought GW oil you would be even more better off.....I will look at that next service I thinks (I will service every 50,000kms I rekon)

Also did you buy aftermarket filter/gasket? Or genuine Ford? Do you remember the price at all?
