I trust the tuner, but it's a little rich for me to throw that money at them in one go.Have seen on Ebay new units alone for approx $800, some even come with a few basic maps. (intunemotorsport). There's also a guy selling brand new with no maps for $725 ish.I really want to get the unit so that I don't have to worry so much about that cost in future when I'm able to afford to do a couple other things etc.Is it;a) okay/safe to get the unit, and install it myself and perhaps run these tunes that come with it.b) worth basically buying these parts bit by bit and either fitting them as I go or just holding onto them until I can afford to get it all fitted in one hit ?Reason I ask this is because it'd be much easier for me to buy in drips and drabs rather than buy it in a single hit, as I'll find it easier to come up with this or that money to cover whatever part etc than to justify throwing 3k at it in one hit.My car is completely stock as far as I'm aware, so this unit is necessity before I can begin 'playing' with it, from what I've read and understand. After that need injectors, cat and cooler pipes to make 290-300 then need a cooler after that. M1rkz search 'pingtune' on the forums and see what comes up about intunes generic tunes... Plenty of threads including first mods thread! Good place to start guys!

Good place to start guys! Thanks for the info.I have seen pingtune term used once or twice, I guess those maps are probably why...Definitely a lot of good threads/info around, but often need to set aside a LOT of time to read them as they're often a couple years old or have literally hundreds of posts. Easier to post a quick question about a particular subject matter to get up to date/current feedback and advice though. Will certainly look into those threads some more though. Whatever you do - don't go a pingtune or generic flash.Absolute minimum I'd suggest for the first stage would be the supporting items mentioned, a full service and a proper dyno tune. Your car will come out driving like it should have been from the factory - better response, better economy and a noticeable amount more power. The next stage would be injectors, cooler, cat and (probably) intake (maybe fuel pump??) - I'd save up for them and do those all at once. If it is the FG then you're probably at the limit of where you want to get to with those. Turbo/lifters/bigger cooler/exhaust would be the next step from there. Not at the wheels. As said before stay away from those ping tunes, because sooner or later you will most probably replace the engine instead and that will cost you even more.It has been said, time and time again, that it is best to save up and get it all done at once. This will save you heaps of money.I know you mentioned that the xcal4 is available for $725ish, but that does not include tune time on the dyno.Your tuner might charge you $795, but that includes time on the dyno to get the car running as it should.Try and get all your parts from the tuner cause it does work out cheaper cause he will install them too.His prices are supplied and fitted!!! EBay prices are supplied only.M1rkz, have you spoken to the guys at Monsta Torque in Malaga?
