What about cleaning the motor and chasing the threads which takes time when done right?

So many other things than just ripping a tool chest out and spinning some spanners.

There are guys who put an engine togeather and there are guys who assemble an engine like it is their own. Alot of hours go into a well built engine probabley more than you think Gunna.

Filing ring gaps even takes quite a while by the time you finish off all angles of the ring ends. Time is money and it depends on how particular you want to be.Look at Peppys build thread, He could have 100 hours up already and still plenty to go.

jvk , I know that . but this engine is not a high hp engine ,even the engine builder (tony ) said that . there also is no head included or timing components etc . this is only a slightly stronger engine to suit 450 rwkw (bottom end only ) it is not a full race spec engine in a NAS car that sits constantly at top revs . . do not get me wrong he would do a great job , but I think that for what I want I can use a more reasonable priced engine builder . everyone said just use a FG short block , now they would not be blue printed and still handle the power I am after . so I believe that just adding the better pistons and rods would help me , I would just get the ba engine (short ) bored to suit and balanced . sell the FG bottom end for a reasonable price and explain why I did not end up fitting it ,or just keep it in case I break the ba one

spool rods and ross pistons -rings and bearings (plus head gasket ) is $1995 for me straight of the street ,he would get it cheaper than me . he does not even supply me with a head gasket . so that is $2250 for just labour

so I do not understand the price you gave me in the pm bomber as it said $3300 ?for the complete engine put back together ? , not just the bottom end . or did I miss read the message

Lol^^^^

Mate ford actually build these engines quite well. So don't just think cause its just rods pistons and pump gears any muppet can do it and make it live a long time. You could put a nice rotating assembly together and because it wasn't screwed back together with all the little tricks and knowledge that comes with knowing these engines, you could lunch it faster than a stock bottom end. Now in saying all this not every barra has to be built by tbre. But you should know from past experiences.

Make sure the karnt you are giving your hard earned to knows what the actual fark he is doing!

Expensive Daewoo 186 or a ford 4.1 or a 308 v8 Expensive Daewoo all have pistons rings and rods and a crank . there is no difference to a barra 6 . nothing a reputable engine builder can not handle . he is not even installing the oil pump only the short engine that is all .
