I had a vb Late model camira about 20 years ago now .spend heaps on it , new engine gearbox with 3700 stall ,3.45 vl turbo lsd diff etc. just never got it to run real good .had about 3 mechanics look at it including the engine builder ,but no one could fix it . sold it to a apprentice mechanic ,and all that was wrong with it was the electronic distributor was faulty .

lol, the thing was I did not remove a single performance up grade on the car before I sold it . the add even had written that it had a problem with the tune that no one could pin point . also had receipts for over $15,000 (over 2 years ) , and sold for $5000 with only 10,000 klm after full rebuild of the drive train . yes I gave it away for that price . could have traded it in but you know me I could not do that

So when will a decision be made mate? Im kinda thinking remove the bad karma. Youve put lots in and only come out bruised and battered. Id look at another car, upgrade the minimal to get the power you need and be happy.

Hopefully whatever the outcome, you get your desired result.

Jamie from forced said that the quote would be E mailed yesterday ,but no E mail so far . I will go ahead with the build ,will get dominello to build a BTR automatic . my new neighbour said that there are lots of his boxes getting used with no problems at all ?. Mall wood was for a recon 6 speed manual with all parts needed $7140 (no tail shaft ) . so I am just going to build on my budget of $17,000 no more than that . I know I would rather have the manual but I just can not afford that sort of money at this time . I will let Jamie see what power he thinks the auto will be good for and let him tune it to that

I do see the point of finally getting something you've spent so much energy and sweat on to the place you're happy with it though.

Given the latest hiccups though, can I ask a quick question?

Most of the focus on the new build has been on the engine and the power and the build.

Is the rest of the car/ute up to the standard you're happy with?

I know you have the niggle with the rims you're allowed to run - any other things that may suggest you'd end up more at peace if you switched out the platform for another one to spend your cash on?

How good would it be to be able to take all the decent stuff from your car, choose the project vehicle with all the hindsight you've gained over your last builds and end up with the beast you deserve?

And decent rubber at the back

Honestly - if the guy you bought the new engine/tranny off was that much of a tnuc scumbag - would you trust what he's sending your way now?

How did you pay for the engine/transmission? Might be a way you can get the bank to reverse it as fraud or "goods not as advertised"?

You're seriously about to spend $20k plus (once all the incidentals add up) just to make a vehicle you're not totally happy with have more power. And in such a way that is opening you up for a hell of a lot of other stuff to not be satisfied with.

I do apologise for most of my posts in your other thread, but, seriously - I do believe you'd end up a hell of a lot better off in the end if you drew the line, took a step back and actually looked at where you could end up at with the coins this build would end up costing you (if you weren't polishing a turd, so to speak)

Again - apologies if any of this is rambling or off the mark (have been drinking tonight, pushing out a lot of backed up work and get a bit verbose), but I honestly believe it's time for you to stop being on the receiving end of all the crap and you need to do something major to change the flow :S

Seriously, gunna, if you're already not 100% happy with the car you have then is it seriously worth spending $20k to make it have more power? If you can't run tyres on the road that will actually give it some grip then you may end up reluctant to drive it as a daily coz the thing would want to be sideways at every opportunity.

Making power is generally the easier bit of a car build, but starting with a awesome base is harder...and something you can't just change. This is pretty much the realisation I came to recently when I changed cars. $20k is a lot of money to spend on a built motor for a car that can't handle it man! I'm all for big builds etc, but (and I mean no offense by this) I can't see the point in this...you'll never make the money back on it, not that that's not the the case for most builds, but I'd think the demand for this kind of modded T would be fairly limited?

Lol stripes, you never make money on cars and a falcon will never really handle that well, relatively anyway. BUT I still 100% agree with you. So does everybody else really. Like I said though he needs to do what HE wants.

Gunna, its the way these engines make power, more specifically torque that breaks sh*t. A modded fg turbo in hard and early is going to kill that btr...eventually.

I know you like to run the baby load tyres, but since it won't be a daily, can't you get some decent rims/tyres?
