genuine honest person Member 2,769 Member For: 10y 10m 20d Gender: Male Location: near brisbane Posted 22/05/15 08:45 AM Author Share Posted 22/05/15 08:45 AM the gearbox is out of the car ,engine etc might be out this weekend . that if I do not end up going to willowbank on Saturday night ,Jake is going to see how fast his FG turbo ute (350 rwkw ) will run . after the removal of the gearbox I have found that the flex plate was loose and has enlarged the holes ,so yes the flex plate is stuffed . the TECHNICO engine mount on the turbo side looks like it is stuffed (5000 klm old ) they are rated to handle 1000 hp . they must fail due to the heat as they are only made of rubber (have fitted a heat shield as advised by the manufacturers ) might give him a message what I can do to prevent this from happening again . the gearbox oil was still clean ,no evidence of getting hot or slippage of 3th gear . the engine builder came over last week to inspect the engine and found the following wrong , engine bearings are badly scored and there is evidence of the engine got very hot .the bores would clean up ok with a hone but he does not trust the pistons as they have got a lot of wear and score marks on them .he said it looks like someone filled the engine with sand and started it up as there are so many score marks on the pistons and bearings . he had a fast look at the heads and said that it would clean up ok . the rollers are no good to use as they have seen better days ,only good for recycling. sorry but still unable to up load any photos 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I made a shield out of aluminium . I do believe that the turbo heats up the engine mount bracket and then travels down to the engine mount itself . the rubber bush starts to suffer from the heat as it now looks like it is bludging out . how can you help me out with this problem ,think I have seen the same happen to another member from this forum Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

(and cars like Wombat would say ,lol)barnz starting to look like I might have to use some of the ba parts including the block .phoned Jamie today and he advised just to fit new rods and pistons to my ba short engine and fit the FG head to it . the engine builder will come over tomorrow with some prices for the work he will do to the engine . nothing fancy just some insurance that the engine will not fail .
