^^^ was my thinking. Turd goes from stink to steaming. I'd be taking photos and sending them first before the engine. If he says straight up yep, I'll refund, get money sent FIRST before sending engine back.

We're about trying to help going forward so here's my 2c. If the engine is as screwed as you say push for a full refund. Lets say he does. Ok, so money back and off we go again. Now, forget the FG conversion idea as you already have a combo plumbed in and working. Pull your motor out and do a basic reco. Spool rods, forgies, pump gears, timing set, studs, reco the head (if required) & away you go. If you do your homework and use the right people you should get out of it for 5k. New engine - no more BS.

Option two he says EAD, sue me. If rollers are farked get a set from the wreckers. Same for cams or buy new from Ford $600. So, top end basically ready to go aside from maybe a quick head reco and fitting the upgraded valve springs.

If bottom end isn't scored too badly and it measures up ok, get it honed and prepped. Now, ask yourself how much power am I going to run. Why? Because the FG bottom end will handle 600hp. The stock pistons should clean-up with some work but if not, bin them for some half decent forgies. Put some oil pump gears in it ($400), H/D atomic timing set, head studs and basically the engine is done.

The JE piston rebuild kit from SPOOL is about $2300 delivered(don't use the ROSS)

Oil pump gears,tensioner,timing chain,new guides,crank sprocket about $1100

Head studs,oversized ATOMIC washers,Mains studs about $700

Block/rod/crank/possible tunnel machine work 1k minimum and basic reconditioned head @ $700 so about 1500-2k in machine work.

Gaskets about $150

Unexpected pop ups $???

Engine assembly(will vary quite a bit as builders have different methods/time spent assembling motors) but expect $1500-$2500 on assembly.

I have only been very basic in listing stuff just to show it adds up quite easy.

If you build it do it right(this in itself is subjective though from person to person but a known good builder puts a mind at rest) as you will kick yourself afterwards for not doing so.

These engines can be slapped together quite cheaply but reliability at the level of boost we speak of isn't usually held onto for very long.

It all depends how picky you are and what your budget allows.

Ill donate a set of rollers for you if the motor has to be used....they were what I was going to use in my current motor but a set popped up just a bit better nick again so went that way....by no means are these hammered and have very good even wear on them.
