I do see the point of finally getting something you've spent so much energy and sweat on to the place you're happy with it though.

Given the latest hiccups though, can I ask a quick question?

Most of the focus on the new build has been on the engine and the power and the build.

Is the rest of the car/ute up to the standard you're happy with?

I know you have the niggle with the rims you're allowed to run - any other things that may suggest you'd end up more at peace if you switched out the platform for another one to spend your cash on?

How good would it be to be able to take all the decent stuff from your car, choose the project vehicle with all the hindsight you've gained over your last builds and end up with the beast you deserve?

And decent rubber at the back :)

Honestly - if the guy you bought the new engine/tranny off was that much of a tnuc scumbag - would you trust what he's sending your way now?

How did you pay for the engine/transmission? Might be a way you can get the bank to reverse it as fraud or "goods not as advertised"?

You're seriously about to spend $20k plus (once all the incidentals add up) just to make a vehicle you're not totally happy with have more power. And in such a way that is opening you up for a hell of a lot of other stuff to not be satisfied with.

I do apologise for most of my posts in your other thread, but, seriously - I do believe you'd end up a hell of a lot better off in the end if you drew the line, took a step back and actually looked at where you could end up at with the coins this build would end up costing you (if you weren't polishing a turd, so to speak)

Again - apologies if any of this is rambling or off the mark (have been drinking tonight, pushing out a lot of backed up work and get a bit verbose), but I honestly believe it's time for you to stop being on the receiving end of all the crap and you need to do something major to change the flow :S

Mate he's just f*cking you around, I'd also question this engine, will probably turn up with no turbo and manifolds at this rate.

You really need to have a good think about all this. Like rab I belive it's time to move on. "Something major to change the flow" was a good way to put it.

I agree with a lot of the sentiments above.

There are a few things to consider first though, before you jump ship.

There's always the possibility that you may buy another problem child.

Although the car you have now has caused more than it's fair share of grief, you have become very intimate with it and you know it inside out.

I've always played with older cars and the only time you have to give up on a car is if the body is beyond repair, everything else can be relatively easy to fix.

Gunna take a few deep breaths and work out what the car actually means too you.

None of us spend money on a car as an investment, it's all about the love , challenges and dreams we need to fulfil that drives us to do what we do.

Good luck

I had a look at the vehicles linked above and I din't get excited. Two of the three had more than 140k on the odometer, and it would be reasonable to assume that they would require some coin to replace worn components. So, would there be any gain, or would you have purchased someone else's problem and end back where you started?

A phrase does come to mind: Better the devil you know, than the devil you don't????

To be fair that's probably pretty good k's for a b series? My fg has 110 thou. The last one I linked seem like a pretty fair deal even though it's a BA. Was just a quick search anyway, just getting some burly in the water...

He should do whatever it is he wants to do anyway, not what people on the Internet say and not what the missus says...

another phrase comes to mind "happy wife, happy life" he has to live with her and only those 2 know his exact financial situation

but then again another phrase comes to mind " it's easier to ask for forgiveness than asking for permission"
