Superpro' safe generally speaking a softer bush than the nolathane equivalent. But it's unusual. I'd send it back to superpro out of curtiousy and tell them you've had a failure. Hell they might even warranty it as a thank you

Mate there's been quite a few guys, both on these forums and elsewhere that have split the comforts. I personally think they're a waste of time, especially if your car is modded. Superpro state lifetime warranty on their site though, so they'd probably replace it for you, but no point since you've got solids in there now.

I actually just completed the full Superpro upgrade in my car tonight. I've had the rears done for a couple of weeks now, but did the fronts today.

Like you, I went full solid for the bushes and changed every single one. I haven't driven with the fronts yet as I just finished fitting them tonight, but went for a drive when I did the rear end and there was no NVH increase at all, and I was definitely listening for it. Had my windows up, music off, but couldn't hear anything. Drove nicer than standard actually and still just as quiet.

c*nt of a job to do though! I hope these don't fail coz I never wanna do it again lol.

That's odd. I had a SP solid rear diff bush in for a couple weeks. It transmitted the whine of my worn diff very nicely. Sounded like I fitted a blower to the car. It also split for some reason and I had it replaced under warranty, went for a comfort instead.

SP paid for that entire job to be done, but declined to pay for a side comfort bush to be replaced a couple years later (fair enough). Labour is the big killer on these jobs not the bushes, so I've left it in there. Suspension guy said it's not worth it in his opinion.

There's your problem. You already had a stuffed/noisy diff, just couldn't hear it on stock bushes. I'm no expert, but from what I understand, a solid bush will only transmit noise that is already there, so if your diff is quiet, you shouldn't really hear anything by going to a solid diff bush (maybe slight noise, but nothing like you describe).

My dad's AU makes the same noise you speak of, and he runs stock bushes. His diff is farked.

Some time ago, I went for a drive in this bloke's F6 that was kitted out with Superpro solid diff bushes, and I couldn't hear anything. Had the same experience in another car as well. It's what inspired me to go that route on my car.

I'm actually surprised you split a solid one to be honest. That thing looks really heavy duty. Do you know if your outrigger bushes were installed correctly? I'm wondering if that might have had anything to do with it.

How is your car now with the comfort version?

Oh I thought even a new diff would be whiny on solids. I know mine is noisier because it is well worn though.

Superpro had their preferred WA installer (WA Suspension) check the installation and it all checked out. They installed the comfort for me. I can only guess it was a fault during manufacture, see pic

My car makes lots of noises these days anyway due to having a quarter million under the belt. Diff whine went away with the comfort one, though it's now become loud enough to hear clearly again. Doesn't bother me though, usually got tunes on.

Nah Steve, the diff in my XR6T wasn't whiney at all with the Super Pro solids...it just clunked coz of the truetrac and manual trans. Other than that it was surprisingly quiet...I reckon if I'd gone that route with the GT I may not have gotten as sh*tted off and may have still had it lol

Wow, that's a big split! Manufacturing fault is definitely possible, and sounds like it was the case with yours. It does happen.

Dunno about new diffs being whiny. I was always under the assumption that a diff in good nick should be quiet on a solid Superpro bush, and that was certainly my experience and that of a few others. My car has around 80, 000km on the clock. Sounds like it might just be luck of the draw to be honest.
