Am looking to up the power of my xr6t from 311kw atw to 373kw atw(500hp)

What turbocharger would ppl recommend to achieve this? I want it to be linear power, I've been in peaky power cars & that's not what I want.

I want It to pull from down low, quick spool.

Any help would be awesome

Just thought I'd donate cause I've been using the site for help, so I'd try to help back.

Buttplug, would this turbo support the required power easily or is it at the limit of the turbo to make the power?

I want to buy the parts I need first, then get it all installed. I've been told I need to upgrade clutch & driveshafts before I look to make 500hp atw...or I wont be making it for long

in before the gtx3576 lovers

But to be fair it would do the job - great spool, easy 400+ on e85, on 98, 373 should be possible depending on the usual factors...boost, support mods (cooler etc) and of course how far you and the tuner are comfortable with pushig it

On the street at least I'd say a well tuned gtx3576 pushing around 360 would whip a 373rwkw 3582... cos quick spool

Don't get too caught up in the numbers game

Interesting thread for you

Will definitely need to upgrade the clutch

Tail shafts can be a lottery, can depend on how you drive

A mate turned his into a mintie wrapper at stock power, mine's going fine at 357rwkw touch wood...my next upgrade

Thanks camo86t, I am looking for an even spread of power, nothing that lags. But as everyone has told me, its the tune, not the turbo that makes it linear.

Other ppl have suggested the precision 62 range of turbos, guess ill be doing a lot of reading before I choose.

Thanks again for the advice

Whats your budget is a factor too. The precision 6235 and one of the efr borg warners (ratter tuned one, can't remember the model number) are quick spooling turbos but make decent power up top. however these are at the upper end of the costs scale by time they're on the car

Hey Bellato, was just asking for what ppl thought would be suitable. Havent cemented a budget, will do research and shop for a deal. Does more expensive mean better? or are there cost efficient turbos that would do the same job for less?

Well the more expensive turbo's seem to 'generally' to either spool quicker or make more up top than the cheaper equivalent, but there's a lot of factors that go into that also. I would look at a gt3540, gtx3576, pte6235, mta750 and efr8374 (someone confirm the borg warner model number).

All will achieve your ultimate goal of 500hp, how they achieve it and how much they go over it varies. Reliability of the turbo, ease of fitment and price are all factors that vary between them. Plenty of info on those turbo's around

Thanks mate, the PTE & GTX seem to be the ones that ppl have recommended, but ill be looking at clutch, driveshafts & coilovers before I up the power.
