So im planning on putting a big sub box in the boot, and I really dont wanna have a spare tyre in there to save weight, As you know, the spare wheel holds up up the bit of mdf up which holds up the carpet, so im left with a big hole in front of the sub, and the carpet wont stay put. What have you guys done to avoid this?

You can have subs and a boot too..... This is what I am doing...

I am currently installing my system and I got most of the box finished today. The upper section of the box will completely sealed to the shelf, so as to avoid frequency cancellation, this will fire the two 12'' subs firing up through the factory sub location and into the cabin. I finished fibreglassing the subwoofer panel today, and installation of the gold mirrored perspex should be completed tommoz.....

Btw, I decreased the depth of the box by 40mm (since the pic was taken) as it sat back a little to far for my liking. the backboard and amplifier/processor fitment should be completed in the coming days.....

^^ don't laugh at me but I thought of using that just to help shut the whiney trutrak up. It really is noisy now that I don't have a spare tyre to muffle the sound

Not a silly idea if you where to line the spare wheel tub with plastic and make a plywood top plate.

  • All stock bar the k&n panel filter

Or fiberglass mould the sub box into the spare tyre well with a vented false floor over the top for the carpet to sit on. Looks tidy and still gives plenty of useable boot space.

Or just leave the spare in.....you know. Coz handy when got a flat........

Mind you I do usually keep a can of that tire repair gear in the car. Got a puncture just the other day, less than a minute and I was on my way again. Interestingly when I went to adjust the pressure the 20inch tire was at 38 psi. From dead flat. Impressive for a relatively small can
