Nah - good to hear

Probably the wrong words - replace chop/changey with info gathering/research.

Was just suggesting finalising the end result and going with it rather than actioning mid stream.

yes I am not going to decide what to do I will let Jamie sort that out .lol . 450 rwkw is not something I know how to set up .

bomber , the engine builder never gave me a final build price . and the guy with the build engine never replied my messages so I gave up . so when this low klm FG engine and all the acc popped up I grabbed it . it also has the six speed manual with it . all up I paid $5700 with delivery

You've bought an engine

You've bought a gearbox

Now you're asking advice where to go from there?

And you took offence when I suggested that you work out where you want to finish before you spend cash?

And you want to change the valves yourself?

FFS - Dags - can you change my user name to "Low level autistic" please?

well next time read the whole thread before you comment ,do not just read some of it .that what pisses me of is when you do not even know the full story ,and then you comment . I have to start with a new engine first and the car has to have a gearbox that can handle that sort of power .what are you going on about . even the tuner said to do this first . and now I have to up grade from there to get this sort of power

I'm pretty sure he would have been pissed about that - the outlier doesn't make the norm.

Why didn't you choose crow springs? Probably because matt036's died within 18 months.

So you chose Atomic - "Hey, lets get the tool to replace them because a set of Crows died - am sure the Atomics I got might too"

Seriously G.H.P. - get yourself a mentor - either a tuner you trust or one of the bulletproof forum members to filter any decisions or purchases you make.

You react far, far too quick to things you read on the internet and they sway you to make decisions far too early.

I couldn't believe you bought a gearbox because "everyone" said it was a good idea. BEFORE you know where you want to end up.

And then you start asking about clutch plates??????

SERIOUSLY - the $20k you're worried about to get a shop to do it all - it WILL be cheaper in the long run.

And no - I'm not a sh*t stirrer/kharnt/arsehole - not up for a troll or to fling crap -

You really, really, really just need to relinquish any decisions of the build for your car to someone who can make the right choices for you - or else it will cost you a lot of money and a lot of frustration/heartache

Now I need to pre-qualify what I'm about to write because I genuinely want to help.

Mate, you need to stop jumping all over the place and take a deep breath. This build has all the makings of a train wreck. Firstly, I'm not sure you actually have a clear goal for the car. It seems to change daily. One minute you're worried about running the correct load rated tyres because it's a commercial, next minute we're chasing 1000hp.

Manuals running decent power - especially in utes, are a fail unless you're building a skidder. They don't hook up so you'll get chopped by ZF equipped cars running 100 - 150rwkw less. Manuals are also considerably harder on the engine. So, if you want to go quick - bin the manual idea.

As Tony Bellert will advise, all you needed to do was source a decent taxi donk. Yep, a green top. He prefers seasoned blocks - not new FG F6 longs. If you look around, you'll find a good runner for $500. Throw in a set of spool rods, decent pistons, upgraded pump etc and you'll have a great engine for around 6 - 8k. All new - with warranty. So engine sorted and you'll have your current one as a spare plus, can minimise down time for the car. If you plan it well, you could have old donk out and new one in tuned and done in under a week. You're using Forced Performance for your tuning and TBRE and Jamie work together often. It's the right fit - minimal hassles.

BTR's aren't that sh*t so I'd just toughen her up and throw in a nicely matched stall. Gilroy's in Toowoomba can sort that for you and are close to both shops - again nice and simple. This will save you all the heartache of fiddling around trying to plumb the ZF in which frankly, are overrated in my opinion anyway.

So I'd recommend mapping out exactly what you're wanting to do with the car and work back from there. If you use the people I've mentioned you'll have a great package provided you listen to what they tell you. None of them are shonks and have built some seriously good cars.

Good luck with it :)

I've been following your threads with a heap of respect - probably why I'm upset now :S

One does not simply buy and engine and gearbox and then ask what turbo and clutch they should use. (was a walk into Mordor joke)

Seriously - you need to work backwards.

Work out what you want to end up with.

Work out the best way to get there.

Work out how you're going to get there and what parts you need.

Then - spend the money.

Then - double the expenditure.

And never - never follow any suggestions from forums [unless or specifically if they're mine (haven't worked out which one is true yet)]
