Sounds like a sales pitch to me, you have a ute so there is far less to break as far as the rear end goes.

So this BTR that can handle 500rwkw with ease seems to have quite a few buts. I dunno how it is these days but previously "built" btr's just utilised older btr parts from earlier models, as ba's were a bucket of sh*t with plastic pump gears and fine thread gears that are piss week, older models had coarser(noisier) stronger gears. An AU pump is another popular mod which you already have. Not sure about frictions but there is most likely after market stuff available. Dunno bout the shaft being the week point, seen a stuffed xr6 turbo btr getting pulled down and the damage was to the sun gear, planetary and annular teeth Shaft was fine....

One thing I know for certain the tr6060(fg manual) wont let you down, and you have the opportunity to get one with 6000ks on it for 1700 bucks!!

Im not suggesting that the direction you should take, do what you want, I just think the btr will end up being rebuilt...again and again..if I spend 5k on a box I want to be able to abuse the sh*t out of it without worrying..

lol have just bought the 6 speed manual . so now I can get my automatic guy to split the box and freshen it up ready for sale . just thing that the ute will be more fun to drive and I can take it to lake side or QLD raceway for a bit of fun as well .think its a win win situation .

thanks barnz for pushing me that way .

see I do listen to people after all

Wait wat? lol. So the testaments from people like HIPSI sticking 1000hp through a stock one had nothing to do with it? My point was I wouldn't trust a btr. T400 with gear vendors overdrive would be sick but you will need to rob a bank.

The manual will be awesome, oh and I believe the only difference between tr6060 and t56 is extra synchros in the tr6060, so t56 testaments are still valid

Gunna, a manual trans on a sedan will break the cv's on the drive shafts and maybe the diff hat, but you have a ute and a solid diff so all you would break maybe is the spline on the shaft to the wheel, but you have already upgraded most of the breakables

might have to invest in some cal tracks so it will not axle tramp and snap the tail shaft . will have to get farrows shafting to rebuild my tails haft that they have just done 5000 klm ago . I can not wait to get it all on the road .

so what sort of gear shifters do most people run with these ? and where can I buy them ?

barnz ,I thought I might listen to people that know more than me ,lol. na just thought that it was too risky to go with the BTR . so I took captain R fist choice ,as I like manuals too .

sorry meant the part that goes into the box that turns it into a quick shifter ,can get different combinations like first gear is at the left bottom and second and third are in another row etc

I reckon I'd go an auto if I were to do it again (not a btr). Driving my brothers 450kw zf fg was so fun and comfortable. Also rollover noise drives me insane. And traffic in cities (where I live atm) is shocking with manual and big clutch. And fuel consumption was much better in his.

sorry for the ands
