spool rebuild kit is only $1900 . which includes, pistons (ross ) -rods- bearings -head gasket rings .so why would you want a FG bottom end ,when I can get my block bored and cleaned and crank re ground and assembled for less than or the same ? just makes no sense when the spool rods are way better . please explain why you would go that way

ratter , yes the complete long motor ,heads -valve springs -timing chain -oil pump- etc .will also need all the pulleys replaced . water pump etc ,new flex plait (will order one of your new ones )

the nizpro valve springs are about 5 years old now ,so just cheap insurance to change at the same time .

The benefits of a F6 short, is that all components are new and do not require machining. New pistons, rings, crank and bearings included with the block. No chemical cleaning, machining the decking of the block, boring and honing the cylinders or crank grinding is required. There is also a significant reduction on labour, as there is no measuring and dummy fitments of the rotating assembly to check clearances for assembly. Believe me when I say that these all add up very quickly The F6 short scenario also has other advantages, such as: Less down time of the vehicle and having a short as a spare, or for a rebuild.

All in all, it is your coin and you will do what you will.

Initially, I was going to put my Atomic rods into my F6 short, ceramic coat the F6 pistons and run full boost of the GTX42 through it. I still might do it yet, As I went the F6 short route, I now have a complete spare long engine to play with and find a new home for......

Bt, you housin is an easy fix. Just get the mating sufrace milled and then do some work on the inside of the port. However, before you get too carried away with, make sure that the housing isn't cracked where the bolts attach the the turbo cartridge, as they are renowned for it

Here is a few pics of my old housing when I did it....
