I definately want 18' wheels, just not sure if its worth paying an extra $1500 for the ford 18's (they look good) or get standard wheels and then buy aftermarket 18's. Just wondering what peoples thoughts are, and im not really sure how much aftermarket 18's plus tyres cost, and would they take my standard XR 17's as like some sort of trade in?

cheers

Re: the factory 18's.

Got 'em

Love 'em

I was able to get mine at a discounted price so I went with the factory option.

Having said that, there are a number photographs of beautiful 18's, 19's etc on this site. It really comes down to taste & budget.

Chooch,

I'm leaving the standard 17's and going aftermarket but still sticking to the 17's size. As a tradein you will only get around $150 - 200 per rim. Ive been quoted to upgrade wheels and tyres to 18's around $1300 for 4. But it all depends on the cost of the new wheels ( chrome vs alloy vs hyper black vs champaine etc ).

I've done some comparisions and have found that 'The Tyre Factory' to have one of the better prices in Melb, unless someone else have seen better?

I've got the factory 18s and reckon they look great. It was the first thing I ticked on the Options sheet when I ordered the car. Problem is I want 19s now! Most tyre/mag shops will trade your old mags if they are in GC, I think I was offered $1500 on my factory 18s (just the rims) on a set of 18" Simmons.

Chooch see my post below and you could probably sell the stock 17's with tyre and be left with only a small change over to have 19's?

I think go the factory 18" you will spend to much on trying to get aftermarket 18" that look as good.

and I really think the stock 17" look awful.

*Flamesuit on*

I don't like the factory 18's at all! Infact I like the 17's better. no offence but that's my opinion.

I think you could do better going for an aftermarket rim.

AMG and ROH have some nice rims that suit even better than the factory 18's.

 You must be the odd one out I think. One of the first things people comment on when they see my car is how awesome the wheels look. And you should see them when the car is moving - absolutely stunning.

P.S. the 18's really go well with the premium sound!

If you want to be different and you have some extra cash then go the 17", then shop around for 18's or 19's. You will need 18's or larger if you want the bigger brakes.

I don't know what 4 stock wheels/tyres are worth, if you want to sell them later. I think what 100% is offering sounds like another reasonable option... knock $500 off his price, buy them, then sell the 17s.
