I know how to file finish the rings just the oil rings get me every time with the over lap .also I would not be able to work out the compression (no idea how to do it ). end play in the crank have done all before same as the rods .the head I would just get re build by a specialist . how hard is it to align the cam shafts ,are there marks to tell you top dead centre ?or would I need a cam dial in gauge ,single cam is easy but twin no idea . if I do something wrong then it is all over start again . I will definitely think about building the engine my self .right from the start I wanted to do it .thanks for the confidence in me to give it a go . yes it is my own doing that people rip me of , I do not stand up for my self and people use that to there advantage . ps how do you prime one of these oil pumps ? I used to fill them with grease years ago (when I was about 14 years old a old neighbour used to do this when I helped him with a american rambler 330 engine re build .he was in the army in the second world war servicing and repairing rolls royce engines ) might start writhing a list of parts I would need to do this and post it up to see if I missed some of them barnz I will keep my eye open for a low mileage FG engine as that may be the way to go as well .can always just fit some rods to it .bugger the head would have to be removed ,and new head studs and head gasket ps I will not rush into this as I have some time up my sleeve . thanks for all the input Edited 14/02/15 09:52 PM by gunna Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I am only human and I do make some mistakes but I mostly can fix them up with ease . I am at the moment a project manager (that is written on my business cards that the boss supplied me with ) I am the person that measures the job ,then orders material ,manufactures the job ,then fits the job .it is a bit scary to order material for some of these jobs that are $100.000 worth . toughened glass can not be cut down if you make a mistake and just goes straight into the bin . the boss accidentally orderred clear glass instead of grey glass ($10,000 ads up fast when it is 12.38 mm thick laminated glass ) he gets me to order most stuff now Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I am getting older now and this is the last car that I will spent this sort of money on (this car will stay with me for a very long time ) have always wanted a fast car ,and to do most of the work my self . my old man saved and saved his money ,when he retired his doctor gave him some wrong medicine which reacted with some of his other tablets he was taking .he had a stroke ,his kidneys failed ,and could hardly walk 5 meters . he also had a lot of brain injures due to the stroke (like a a little kid ) he never recovered from it and passed away 5 years later due to the complications . so I want to have fun with the money I have at the moment and fulfil one of my dreams in my life time . I am a battler that is for sure ,I also make lots of wrong decisions . but this dream has been with me for ever I can remember . kellie my girlfriend also said to me go and do it as that is my only hobby I have ,I am car fanatic that is for sure .
