doing some more mods to the ute , so I would like a better turbo . reliable 360- 370 rwkw that is all I am after . so I would like a fast spool up time . I am getting a stall this time as the 60 foot mark is 2.2 seconds . thinking of 2700-2800 rpm stall for the btr auto box . it will get freshened up again just to be safe ,3 gear not shifting well after 5000 km .going to rebuild the ba engine with some better internals and maybe some new cam shafts (more like the fg ) so what is a good turbo to buy these days

Think logically or maybe don't think logically, when I bought my ute I decided all I was going to go is remove the center muffler and a tune. 2 years later and now look at my signiture. I'm now planning the next round of mods and more power again. If your planning to go to the trouble of changing the turbo maybe you should aim a little higher incase you change your mind down the track, as buttplug has said the standard turbo is quite capable of 360-370.

I would love to go to 400 plus rwkw but the BTR 4 speed stops me .most auto places say they are only good for 350-370 rwkw even with all the mods done to them . I have already got the au internals and pump fitted to it and better solenoids . just want to keep it reliable that is all . even thought to fit a turbo 400 to it but the 3.9 diff gears that I have would make the engine sit at about 3300-3500 rpm at 100 klm .

the turbo that I am currently running has been rebuild 5000 klm ago with a flapper mod and a new billet 6 plus 6 wheel in the standard housing . it just do not trust it ,and the flapper mod that I got done to it was bodged up (I just get ripped of all the time ) so I would like a new turbo just to be on the save side (thanks for the advise Butt plug )

why are you getting ripped off? research and follow what others have done and pay the extra and go to a professional WITH EXCELLENT REPUTATION....don't skimp just because its a few hundred dollars cheaper somewhere else. Ported rear housing was a big thing (I remember initially wanting to do an exchange with Rapid Systems for their ported rear housing for $350odd and was warned to stay away cause its sh*thouse lol).

maybe just getting the ported wastegate mod/flapper done somewhere good....then retune once you have your other crap sorted. I would think your hyrbid style/billet blade turbo should be spooling slightly faster than standard 3540 and probably faster than gtx3582 (from what I've read?).....

Long story short....I will jump in before Bizkets does.....GTX3576r is what you want for fast spool and 350-370rwkw. If you go e85 you can get over 400's apparently as well.

I'm 95% sure I will go baby gtx if I ever change turbo.....unless my zf goes before then and I rebuild it....then I would put up with a bit of lag and go the gtx3582

Why don't you trust the turbo gunna? I would think it would either sh*t itself really quickly or last booko km's with taking into consideration servicing and clean air filters!

GTX3576r FTW also...

only got it build by a non professional guy ,that works from home . so it is not balanced or nothing . yes you are all correct with just keeping the turbo I have , even my engine builder said the same . he is just working out a price for me now to rebuild the complete engine . he said the standard cams are fine to use ,it would be a wast of money to change them he said .will keep everyone posted .
