Hey guys, I'm currently pricing up some options for turning my bog stock BA xr6 turbo into a 10 second street/strip car, I own a workshop and have modified plenty of Japas over the years and pretty much road tuned them with the odd tickle up on the Dyno using aftermarket ECUs, but all this Flash Tuning has me being cautious, As I would normally do Modifications peice by peice which makes small changes Easyer to tune. I've searched and come across HP tuning software, which looks like it may work for me and my old school approach. Can someone shed some light on there experience with this Software pros vs cons. TIA

HP Tuners still use the "flash tune" approach due to the architecture of the ecu (it cannot be live tuned). SCT/XCAL has a slightly larger number of parameters mapped, but is basically unavailable unless you have a shop front and dyno (may not be an issue for you)

I've been using HPT for 5 years and it has improved greatly (up to including ZF trans support in the latest beta's) and would recommend it for an application such as yours.

Also check out the HPT Forum for Aus Fords if you haven't already

Ditto what Wiggum said. I'm a HP user also. The scanner sucks for HP but you can buy second hand xcals cheap and download livelink free. Although from memory with a BA you are fairly limited for logging also in terms of DMR's. Luke will clarify though.

+1 for using HP, it sounds like you'll pick it up pretty quick, our cars don't use a VE table as such so you'll have fun getting started but there is a wealth of knowledge on the HP Forum in the link above.. Goodluck
