5 mm of tread is ok ,but looking at your pictures that 5 mm looks more like 3 mm to me .that is why I said 5 mm , the most I let a tyre ware is usually 3.5 to 4 mm . by that stage the tyre has gone to hard for my liking ,and lost a lot of the tyres ability to grip how it was when it was new . so $850 for a set of new tyres is better than a $20,000 bill for a replacement car . look I am just giving my opinion on what I do ,I can understand that not everyone agrees with me on what I say . and that is ok with me . so what I am trying to say is that I do not want to step on someones toes . :surrenderwave:

talking about cheep tyres ,these Achilles 123s semi slick tyres (235 45 17 ) are brilliant (do not know how road legal they are ) but for $150 each they are a bargain ,and grip wise they are outstanding . I used these at the drags and powercruise last september . going to use them at powerplay on the 7 february again

With Qik1's (John) recommendation I used Federal 595rsr's on my 330rwkw BA turbo that I used to own. For $300 each fitted (17inch) they were excellent with no or limited wheelspin on full take off on the street here in Townsville.

A mate here (Ray076) also uses Nitto's on his FG turbo with 380+rwkw and they are pretty good but he can't take off anywhere near full throttle in 1st or 2nd but tyre wear fairly good allround. I told him he needs a semi slick rating for the required grip but he's to much of a scrooge...

I got these on the weekend, they are fantastic in the dry with unbelievable grip

And for what Hankook call a semi slick tyre they are great in the wet, definitely on par with invo's when it's wet

275/35x18 cost me $225 each. They only have a treadwear rating of 200, so I know they will wear faster but I would rather grip on a softer tyre and replace them than have a hard tyre with no grip

I'm not sure what they are exactly, but they are pretty high.

But they are kinda a 'cheat' tyre as they have a realitivly high rating to get around a lot of regs in comps and drift, but that's as they have a heap more physical depth before they are on indicators compared to most brands

So pretty soft for their rating (which I believe may be around the 300s)
