Oil Leaking From The Timing Cover

Well on the last service from the Ford dealer I purchased my 05/08 G6E TURBO, they advised the timing cover was leaking and the the seal had gone and the py advised me to monitor it to see if there was any oil still leaking. Well the engine was still dropping oil, the dealer advised it would not be covered under warranty as the car was not under new car warranty and the warranty that was sold witht the car does only cover comports like the timing chain.

I rang Ford customer service to see if they could provide any assistance, they did take notes about my concern and I advised them that I should not have to pay for the repairs as the car has only just done 130K, they called me the next day to advise Ford could not provide any assistance.

I then called a few other dealers to see how much they would charge to perform the repair, their prices were more then what I was quoted fromthe dealer I had purchased the car from so I got the repairs done and the cost was $585 inc GST.

Has any one else had this issue with their G6E TURBO/XR6 TURBO, I did search varies forums but couldn't find much people talking about their experiences.

Mate, your not going to like what you will hear.

It is a very common problem that ford covers as the studs used are slightly to long causing seal to leak.

My 2011 @ 10,000.

I'd speak to consumer affairs as it is well known problem.

That's what I said to both the dealer and Ford, as I need the car on the road toget to & from work so I bit the bullet and paid to get fixed or otherwise if I did have the time I would have gone to the department of fair trading and I did mention that I do work for a company that looks at customers out of warranty case by case for repairs.

Do I have a leg to stand n now as the car is already repaired to reclaim the money spent on the repairs?

cost me $150 at a performance shop here in melb to get the exact same thing fixed

at the very least I'd stop going to ford to get your car serviced/repaired now that its out of warranty

Mate, a lot of guys on here have driven new cars straight to the tuners

and for all but non drive line issues voided warranty

It's not called fraud service for nothing. Not sure about extended warranties

but they probably read from the same weasel bible.

I've had some major disputes with Ford over warranties ( their abuse of vehicle) etc

If you want your money back , fair trade is the go. Have receipts and documentation

of what happened and when. Give yourself a chance.

You will find that in a number of cases it is easier and cheaper to get it fixed

properly than get into extended disputes. The whole idea is to wear you down.

Do your research and figure whats your best re course if any.

What is needed to stop the leak for anyone that is out side their warranty.

Ive found out that mine has once upon a time or is still leaking. Will try to get it done under warranty, finger crossed.
