Hi Guys,
It's been a while since I've been active on here and haven't touched my car in a long time due to other priorities, but I've recently decided to tinker with it again and was wondering what people are using for their fuel system these days when aiming for around 400rwkw? Still the tried and true Plazmaman/Process West surge tanks, or are there other options now? My fuel system is stock, other than my injectors which are re-drilled OEM ones.

Hi mate

Process west and plaz surge has had success for some time now although the trend for in tanks is really stepping up

A lot opting for a single 460 and a reg.

I've got the twin kpm in tanks and can't be happier with it

Does the KPM setup with a single 460 have a larger swirlpot, or is it a 460 in a factory swirlpot? Seems a bit expensive if it's just a 460 in a factory swirlpot. What happens when you run low on fuel and the swirlpot gets sucked dry? Curious how this kit compares to the surge tank setup, and if there are any surge issues when running less than a 1/4 tank. A second hand surge tank would cost a similar price, if not cheaper, so I'm wondering if there are any benefits using the KPM in-tank kit over a surge tank. The twin KPM in-tank kit looks great but way too expensive for me and overkill for what I need.

I'm not sure bud

Same thing happens when you run a surge dry bud

I've run mine totally out a few times

Not advisable but I had no issues until it was properly out

I think the benefits of legality, quietness and still excellent flow are the reasons I went intank

Just got off the phone to Dave at KPM. Nice bloke and very knowledgable. The surge will fit BA and BF MK1 (the Walbro 460 one), and he guaranteed my car won't surge with this pump. Gonna go for one of these over a surge tank then. Cheaper and direct replacement to the factory pump.

That's what I'm using. Had no issues with it.

He had the chance to sell me the more expensive Streetfighter pump, I told him I do circuit days. He said no problem their Walbro 460 kit will be fine. I'm only making 320rwkw on 98 though.

And in a recent talk with him he said I can go E85 with it. Just needs a hose changed which he could do for me.

Also, I have no intentions on running it with 5L in the tank at the track.

The KPM in tank looks like the best option IMHO.

It allows the factory rail to be used at higher power levels. Whereas the surge tanks mounted up front will require larger fuel rails and bigger returns fitted to the surge to control fuel pressure with bigger pumps (dual 460's).
