I was told on thursday when getting my first shudder fixed that Oct 03 - cars have a different brake calliper than pre Oct 03 cars.

I'm sure GP said this too when we went for FMC/FPV tour.

I was just about to say that Falchoon...

Im not at work at the moment, but im almost 100% sure there isnt any different listings for pads and rotors for Dec 03 onwards....

Well ill just go b!tchslapp myself now, maybe I should start taking Microcat home with me so I can answer all these questions...... :banghead:

There is definately a different calliper part number for cars built up to 09/2003, and for cars built 10/2003 onwards.....

And a different pad part number too....

However, the rotors still have the same part number form 09/2002 onwards.

Not sure. I still have my "old" callipers here when I changed over to AP Racing, but unfortunately we dont have any of the "new" callipers in stock to compare.

Might go grab a new car off the lot, whack it on a hoist, and have a quick butchers.....

I've heard that this caliper is no bigger than the old one but has a slightly stronger mounting bracket and redesigned piston seals to allow more roll back.

geez.. lucky I'm sitting down, so does that ACTUALLY mean the salesman is right??!?

I would very much like to know the difference (if any) that can be noticed, but if Benny is right then that's good enough for me.

Cheers,

Matt

Nah, still seems like the salesmans wrong.

The rotors sound like they are identical, just a re-designed caliper to eliminate (hopefully) brake shudder so they perform as they should. A different story to "bigger brakes" ;)
