Just always remember stripes that it's still not a meal. You need to make sure your snacks are good, and dinners are good.

Yet to meet a doctor (and I know lots of doctors) that would recommend any meal replacement which isn't Optifast.

I used them as lunch for a while and with exercise lost 5kg in 5weeks

I only used them as my mum had some spare

She went on them before her bowel cancer surgery, three meals of it a day, lost 9kg in 4 weeks.

They don't taste half bad but since I have been on and off of them for years now I can say one thing....

They are not a healthy or sustainable form of weight loss.

They should be used in a worst case, eg. My mum being obese and the more weight she drops before surgery the better.

Or if a person is so beyond the point of help they cannot change their diet habits and it is the only form of diet to them.

They're a good filler if you need a lunch but can't take anything at work etc etc

But in no way shape or form are they something you need to take to loose weight and in fact can hinder the psychological effect dieting has.

The more meal replacements and medications etc etc that people take the less likely they are to keep the weight off and maintain a healthy diet for the rest of the persons life.

As weird as it sounds weight loss is majoritally a psychological battle for most overweight or obese people.

I personally think introducing any supplements or replacements hinders the battle as it isn't sustainable long term.

But saying that I am just as guilty for liking a short cut etc.

But yeah

From previous experience it didn't work long term, I put back on all I lost and another 5kg

And my mum had the exact same experience after her surgery.

If your doing really well diet wise stripes, I'd be hesitant to introduce a meal replacement like that on a regular basis.

But just my two cents.

Fluffy us right. They aren't a sustainable weight loss.

But if you are eating okay I wouldn't say no to a quick shortcut. I am actually considering it myself this evening before I read this post.

Agreed, it's not a sustainable weight loss solution...but as I said, I'd just like to kick a chunk of weight off to speed things up a little. Ultimately I need to manage my health and diet long term, but the quicker I can lose the weight the better the rest of my health will be. I'm not saying I'll use it until I get to my goal, but more so just to help me along the way.

And because I asked the question ....... I'm going with the Optifast idea and I'll make sure I eat more (variety of) vegies at dinner time

thnx :)
