Hello everyone. I am looking to buy a xr for me. The thing is I am not a mechanic what maintenance should I be expecting to pay for after 95,000kms as I don't have a lot of money and would like to save up to be ahead. Also what questions should I ask the guy about the car?

It's really going to depend on how the car was treated. 80,000kms on the dash of a looked after car can be quite different to one that has been tuned and abused. Clutch, diff bush and valve springs may be fine or may all require replacement.

If you're worried about this the best advice we could give you is to spend some cash on taking the car to a mechanic before you buy it and let them check it out.

Ratter at Pitlane Performance offers an inspection service like this to customers looking to buy as would other tuners in most capital cities.

06 BF is an old car so if not sure then get a experienced mechanic to go over it and give you a report. So many things go wrong with these cars with age.

Zf service = $750

PWR replacement heat exchanger = $750

Diff bushes = $800

Random other bushes in suspension after 100,000kms = $hundreds (with labour)

Cars will be hit and miss....finding a low km car can sometimes be bad I.e. a 95k km bf may have been a weekend car and thrashed? Or could be a dude who lives very close to work....so many variables
