I love 2 strokes for the fun factor but after 4 hours of riding single track and your arms and hands are starting to cramp then I'll take my fuel injected 450 4 stroke any day.

She'll tractor over and up just about anything with minimal clutching.

Her engine braking is also a blessing when your going down a steep snotty hill.

So JET, I'm assuming you've looked into it, but I've heard the 6L80E auto's aren't as great at holding big power like the ZF's. How much truth is there to that? What sort of power are the supposed to be good till? I've heard some workshops say that they CAN be built with stronger parts but still don't handle big power well and they generally move to a 4L80E gearbox for high power applications instead.

Sooo I did do a bit of research in this area from my good pal luis at APS and he did go into why/whats/and whos but its like this

The VE had a donkey of a parts bin A6

The VEs2 had minor changes but still a bit ho hum

The VF A6 has a good build but parts are sort of changeable to suit so here goes

The trans pan is shallow and they like to use the camero A6 pan as its deep and can hold more fluid, also an aftermarket "big mouth" filter is sourced ( chalk n cheese pairing these side by side )

Then its all in the calibration and luis was very comfortable passing 450-500rwkw thru the VF A6 when blown/turbo a bit less

A VE box can take 80-100rwkw off those figures

He also mentioned the vf box had enough "strength" in it that you can class it as no need to build if anywhere around the 380rwkw but anything over is like a zf where as u know it can do it but a few will blow due to driver style

So in a nut shell iam confident 400rwkw is fine when calibrated correctly...... Almost exactly like a zf
