Also if anybody has a step by step doco I would appreciate it if you could send me a hyperlink. Thanks

I dont think anybody has successfully hooked up an xbox yet???

Yeh aaron is the expert!! He told me it would cost about $1000 to DIY!!

SO yeh, as you are finding out, you cant plug it into the screen, because you need some type of adapter which doesnt come cheap!!

You also need the thing that holds a proper ntsc transmission or sumthin!! lol, I dont really understand, PM aaron :)

Well, my DVD player install by itself would cost $1699 ($1499 for the stuff, $200 for install). The DVD player was $999 of this. The Blaupunkt BA interface and signal converter cost $500 of this. That said, I don't think Blaupunkt sell the ba interface and signal convertor (BTW the signal convertor has 5 inputs and 5 outputs, 1x RGB and 4x composite input/outputs, pluss 4 stereo inputs and 4 stereo outputs) by themselves. They only sell it in combination with a Blaupunkt DVD Player.

x box consoles are less than $300 bucks so it would be great to use this as the dvd player and for games, and may end up cheaper even with power supply/inverter/mounting issues than having a standalone dvdplayer and xbox, so insted of buying Blau's dvd player one might use the cash to buy a rear screen, the guy who figures this out will get my buisness, xbox also plays recordable dvd-r's and can do other things with certain mod chips eg play multiregion dvd's, "backup" games, pc functions.

$1000 for DIY to replicate the Blau setup using an Xbox. So $700 less than Blau and a lot of your own creativity.

I have the Xbox to ICC cable made and tested. It works. I'm currently designing a 12v powersupply for the xbox and playing with some integration ideas.

To quickly answer the question posed above.

You need a ICC AUX video plug (about $2 from your local wrecker)

An Xbox Euro SCART RGB lead

A modded Xbox that'll output NTSC to that same connector. Then just arc up the box, set the correct screen resolution and plug in the hybrid cable you make using the above two and all the information found in the formods.com forum thread.

Ohhh BTW the Blau interface is available in a bundle with their input switcher/manager (which is a very impressive unit) for around an RRP of $750 (same installer that did Krash quoted me this).

Lets face it, if you don't like hacking things up then this is for you ;)

Other companies like VDODayton, Alpine and Pioneer all make gear that can do pretty much the same thing but most don't have the ICC interface cable available - however that wouldn't be hard for a competent installer to make.

With luck (or time) I'll end up publishing a few guides on the matter that will do a step-by-step install of the xbox, the ways of integrating VDODayton/Pioneer/Alpine etc gear.

As I'm on a very limited budget and have got costs coming out the wazzoo this is all taking a back seat ;)

Thanks Aron, are you saying potentially, an xbox, playing into the icc screen, with dvd's or games, including a power supply would total around $1000, further add a rear 7" roof screen or two seat screens for another say $800, and you could be off and running for approx $1800? I believe there would be many people interested in this, thanks again for your good work!
