In car comparisons arent fair though, consider this, an e46 m3 makes around 220rwkw @ 8000rpm and 325nm @ 5000rpm. A 270t makes around that rwkw and tonks that torque figure out of the park. The barra is also far from a finely tuned performance engine either. Hell the eco lpi makes 200kw and 400nm @ 3250rpm and it is literally a taxi engine. So really the humble barra punches well above its weight. Im sure had it been engineered to fight at the same weight as an m series engine, it would have been pretty special.
