Going back a bit now (and my memory is rusty); Late model camira VT was bagged for being 150 to 200 kgs heavier than VS. Mid way though VT (ie not VT2) the implemented some weight loss measures which included dropping the A pillar tweeters to make the stereo 4 speaker instead of 6

I dont recall the rest of the changes, but they dropped some serious weight.

In my opinion, I'd rather have 6 speakers and a bodyshell that is stronger than the average , than save 1litre per 100km in fuel consumption....

l doubt BA2 will be much different simply because it doesnt have to be. The BA is continuing to sell well and Ford are making money. No need to increase costs if its not necessary.

Plus - I'd buy another one. I bought my daughter (half her money - half mine a Mazda 121 to learn in/on). My wife and I have been using it for the frequent short hauls into town.

Tonight we took the Turbster.

What a difference a turbo charger hooked up to 4 ltres makes.

Plus the leather seats - the stereo - the power - the power - the power.

That's why I bought it.

I think it is realistic than in the series 2 (like the SS) if you option the leather, it will come with climate control on XR.

But with the rest, I think they need some sort of options to differenciate between them.

I have actually heard that it will be the new auto out of the current Jag I.e. 6 speed

This was from a guy that thought a Boss290 wasn't enough and had to supercharge it....... :banghead:

and he says well... series II due out october 2004, will feature (amoung others) SSS 5spd, manual 6 speed, more power, more torque, enhanced drivability and fresh outta Jenny Craig (his words) at 200-250 kilos lighter!

He seemed pretty geniune so I had no reason to doubt him

All I have to say is that sales manager is going on with over exagerated garbage I have to dismiss anything he says after hearing 200-250kg lighter :banghead:

He is dreaming, of course it will have a little more power but I doubt it will be more than 10kw.

They all sound genuine its because most of these car salesmen believe their own crap, hence their bad reputations.

im not having a go at u but ive heard some much crap come out of salesmans mouths that I just can't beleive them anymore. like once when we bought a few camery's for our company I had a little look in the MR2 and the idiot says to me its quicker than a WRX, :blink:

yeah right....

car salesman deserve the reputation they have if u ask me.

The VT dropped weight by using the bake hardened steel used first on the AU and the weight reduction wasn't even more than 20 kilos. As for weight reduction it won't happen for a while yet, either will more power for the sixes.

Not a chance they could drop that much weight! If they are lucky I think the max they could drop would be about 15-30kg. Sure, when the new model comes out in a few years - then they could drop the kilo's, but considering series 2 is just to help move a few cars there is no major changes. XRT might go to 245 or 250kw. There will be different wheels, trim and colours. They might have heard what people are saying and added a factory intercooler grill and a few more little options.

I rekon the FPV's may get a 6 speed manual and I doubt we will see the 6 speed auto in a BA.

That's my guess anyway. I hope they differentiate the XR6T a bit more from the N/A and I hope that if there is a new 6 speed manual, it will fit into a series one! Actually....now that I think about it.....Isn't it practically impossible to put the TR3650 (xr8&FPV) behind the 6 cylinder due to its length etc? If the torque limit of the T5Z is 447nm then they will have to have a new gearbox to slot into the FPV XR6T unless they make it auto only which I highly doubt! Sounds logical to me!

But why I dont reckon they will put a 5 or 6 speed auto in the series 2 is because they have only just brought out the sss auto. Yeah it is logical to change the manual, but not sure about the sss.
