Now that I have your attention, lets talk about the price of eggs in china...

JUST KIDDING

whilst down at my local ford dealership I was chin wagging with the sales manager whose going to sell me my new car and just before we hit the sign here bit he goes, are you sure you don't want to wait for series II?

I'm LIKE W.T.F! MAN !!

and he says well... series II due out october 2004, will feature (amoung others) SSS 5spd, manual 6 speed, more power, more torque, enhanced drivability and fresh outta Jenny Craig (his words) at 200-250 kilos lighter!

He seemed pretty geniune so I had no reason to doubt him

so.. do with this as you will and read into it however you want.. and don't shoot the LACKY :banghead: :nuts2::gooff:

PEACE!

OK here's a question fo ryou...

Say you hold off, or worst still place an order in advance for the car....So you get it in October, then the day comes and it's still the same 'ol pair of cog swappers, it's barely any lighter (Polites has said before that getting BA lighter is NOT a primary concern for FoMoCo at the moment, Territory is) and it's got not extra power or torque becuase they're still selling all the can build without a problem?

Stooged!

You'll prolly get different trim fabrics and an obligatory 3% price rise.

Stooged!

Seriously if you want a XR6T then buy one -if you keep waiting for a 'better' one when will you reach the point of one being availabel that you want?

I hear series 3 will have all alloy bodyshell and polymer front guards, doors and bootlid etc to drop the weight, 300kw and AWD ;)

I just want one!

Aaron has some very valid comments there I think. As if Ford HQ are going to tell some sales *beep* in West Woop Woop final specs on a car that is probably not even signed off to be made yet. The dude probably logs on here for his info.

Reading the weight reduction thing. I was just wondering how fast would an XR6T be on the moon, provided that there was an atmosphere with breathable air and a smooth stretch of road... (1/6 the gravity of earth you know.)

Now thinking about it, it'd probably do serious wheelies and wheelspin etc. ;)

Why would the salesman say something that would cause him to lose the sale (well defer it)? He/she needs that commission today, not 6 months from now.

My experience has been they will do anything to secure the sale. Maybe this is a new breed of salesman??

What are they going to remove/replace that could result in this huge weight saving and keep the price of the car under 100K?

Genuine car salesman?!

I was told there'd be a Jan 04 price rise, I was told this, I was told that. One guy even tried to tell me NOT to pay 100% cash and to consider paying 20k up front and a loan for the rest, he mumbled some garbage about depreciation?!

Car depreciation has nothing to do with how u paid for it! He probably wanted me to take out Ford Credit. What a moron.

I find it hard to believe Ford will be able to shave 200-250kg from the BA, who has ever heard of any Series II or III model ever having such a drastic makeover?!

About the weight loss. I reckon Ford could learn a bit from Renault ;)

Check out the front guards on a Clio... They're placky like bumpers... light, ding proof and much easier to handle. Also rear hatches etc on most Renaults are now plastic as well. Not that you can tell by looking at them.

There's a lot of ways bits and pieces of weight can be saved without redesigning the car - the problem is they all require either serious tooling investment, or a shift of thinking on the part of buyers (watch the peopel that say plastic guards/bootlids would suck) and designers.

My hot guess is that Climate control will become standard on all Falcons.
