I'm building an engine for my XF Ghia. It will start out a  manual, then this will be strengthened and installed.

Nothing really complicated about a 4L80E.  It's basically a beefier TH400, with an overdrive.

Yeh I know what they are. A mate has one behind a 800hp rb30 it's been out probably 20times and only travelled around 200km. They aren't as tried and tested as a simple clutch pack and valve body in a th400 and it's reliable to 800hp.

I can't speak for your mate experiences.  I'll be run a gtx55 (amongst other things) on the next engine and given the modifications I intend to make,  I am very confident that will fulfill my needs. A lot of 1500+ hp boxes on the states. And a lot of the turbo charged  LS guys are using standard boxes, and they are surviving.

I dropped my phone last week and killed it. As luck would have it, I lost everything. Anyway, here is a pic of the controller for the 4L80E. I'll get a pic of the gearbox tommoz.
